About The Position

The State of Mississippi (MDHS) is seeking a Cloud Specialist to support the design, implementation, and operations of enterprise public cloud environments. This role focuses on cloud infrastructure deployment, automation, security, and integration with on-prem systems while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

• 5–6+ years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
• Strong knowledge of: Compute, storage, networking, and IAM (Identity & Access Management)
• Windows Server and Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash)
• Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation)
• Understanding of networking concepts (DNS, routing, firewalls)
• Experience troubleshooting enterprise cloud environments

Nice To Haves

• Experience with hybrid cloud environments (on-prem + cloud integration)
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks (NIST, IRS Publication 1075)
• Experience with cloud monitoring, logging, and performance tools
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Familiarity with cloud databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS)
• Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure)
• Support cloud migrations and hybrid environment integrations
• Implement automation and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot cloud-related issues
• Apply security configurations and compliance standards (NIST, IRS 1075)
• Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and security teams
• Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
• Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
