The engineer will contribute to all stages of back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing, providing expertise in Cloud Computing, including implementing Java applications, Distributed Computing, Information Retrieval (IR), and Object Oriented Design. The position requires working independently or as part of a team, reviewing and testing software components for adherence to the design requirements, documenting test results, resolving software problem reports, and utilizing appropriate software development and design methodologies. Specific input to software components of a system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and COTS/GOTS analysis, is also required.

Requirements

• TS/SCI with Agency Appropriate Polygraph
• Ten (10) years experience as a Cloud Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required
• Experience with open source (NoSQL) products that support highly distributed massively parallel computation such as Hbase, CloudBase/Acumulo, Big Table, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Five (5) years experience developing software for Windows, or UNIX/Linux operating systems
• Six (6) years experience developing software with high level languages such as Java, C, C++
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required
• United States Citizenship
• Position appropriate security clearance

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse Big-Data Cloud systems based upon documented requirements
• Contribute to all stages of back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing
• Provide expertise in Cloud Computing, including implementing Java applications, Distributed Computing, Information Retrieval (IR), and Object Oriented Design
• Work independently or as part of a team
• Review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and document test results
• Resolve software problem reports
• Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment
• Provide specific input to software components of a system design in place of new development, to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the shelf (GOTS) and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components
• Develop software with high level languages such as Java, C, C++
• Conduct requirements analysis and design Object Oriented system
• Develop solutions integrating and extending FOSS/COTS products
• Deploy applications in a cloud environment
• Work with Government and team members to develop and deploy data driven analytics, event driven analytics, sets of analytics orchestrated through rules engines
• Review and update ontologies, data models, schemas, formats, data element dictionaries, software application program interfaces and other technical specifications
• Develop, test, integrate and implement test plans and test scripts
• Develop, install, test, and integrate software
• Diagnosis and resolve IT problems
• Develop technical documents in support of a software development project
• Design and develop automated analytic software, techniques, and algorithms
• Develop and deploy analytics that discover and exploit social networks
• Develop and deploy analytics within a heterogeneous schema environment
• Develop and deploy data driven analytics, event driven analytics, sets of analytics orchestrated through rules engines
• Document ontologies, data models, schemas, formats, data element dictionaries, software application program interfaces and other technical specifications
• Conduct software integration and software testing, to include develop and implement test plans and test scripts
• Analyze and design requirements of at least one Object Oriented system
• Develop and deploy analytics that include foreign language processing; linguistics (grammar, morphology, concepts), analytic processes with taxonomy construction for analytic disciplines, knowledge areas
• Author and generate technical documents in support of a software development project
• Document ontologies, data models, schemas, formats, data element dictionaries, software application program interfaces and other technical specifications
• Develop and deploy: analytics that include foreign language processing; analytic processes that incorporate/integrate multi-media technologies, including speech, text, image and video exploitation; analytics that function on massive data sets, i.e., > a billion rows or >10 Petabytes; analytics that employ semantic relationships (i.e., inference engines) between structured and unstructured data sets; analytics that identify latent patterns between elements of massive data sets, i.e., > a billion rows or >10 Petabytes
