About The Position

As a Cloud Software Development Engineer, you will design, develop, and optimize software solutions for cloud, hybrid-cloud, and on-premises deployments. The role involves understanding partner software stacks and enabling full-stack optimization to integrate Intel hardware features. You will contribute to improving Intel product value in the cloud domain, with opportunities to work on data services, AI/ML, and open-source development. You will join Intel’s Data Center Group, within the Cluster Software US team, which develops software frameworks, optimizes system performance, and helps Intel products meet the needs of the cloud ecosystem. This role is based in Hillsboro, Oregon, and follows a hybrid work model, splitting time between the assigned Intel site and off-site work.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, plus at least 1 year of hands-on software development experience; qualifying experience may come from academic projects, internships, coursework, or hands-on training. Alternatively, a master’s degree in a relevant field with no prior professional experience is accepted.
At least 1 year of experience working in a software product development team.
At least 1 year of work experience developing system software for Linux OS.
Strong programming skills in C/C++.
Hands-on experience with Git and GitHub.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and their associated development tools.
Understanding of software optimization techniques and debugging tools.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Golang, Python, Bash, or shell scripting.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Experience with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or Docker.
Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks and data analytics technologies.
Eagerness to learn, adapt, and grow in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Understanding of graphics fundamentals, experience with Linux or Windows operating systems, and strong knowledge of system architecture.
Experience with Linux, modern C++ (C++17/C++20), Python, CMake, Docker, or Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and validate software solutions aligned with Intel hardware features and cloud deployment requirements.
Collaborate with partners to understand software stacks and optimize full-stack performance across firmware, drivers, operating systems, middleware, SDKs, frameworks, algorithms, and applications.
Participate in developing reference cloud platform software to enhance product value and support customer designs.
Contribute to data services, AI/ML, and open-source development projects.
Debug and troubleshoot software issues to ensure functionality across Intel platforms.
Stay informed about industry trends and incorporate innovative approaches into development processes.
