Brown & Brown is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to join our growing team in Plano, TX! We are seeking a hands-on Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to help build, automate, support, and scale enterprise Azure cloud services. This role will contribute to cloud platform engineering, infrastructure automation, operational excellence, and standardized cloud service delivery across the organization. The ideal candidate has strong Azure engineering experience and is passionate about Infrastructure as Code ( IaC ), automation, cloud operations, and platform standardization. This engineer will work closely with cloud architects, application teams, security, networking, and operations teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable cloud solutions. This role combines cloud engineering, operational support, automation, and continuous improvement responsibilities within a modern cloud platform environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, cloud engineering, or platform engineering roles.
  • Strong recent hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting Azure cloud environments.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or similar.
  • Experience supporting or implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks using Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Azure networking, identity, security, monitoring, governance, and operational best practices.
  • Understanding of cloud security concepts including Conditional Access, RBAC, NSGs, and cloud firewalls.
  • Experience with monitoring, operational support, troubleshooting, and incident management within Azure environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise cloud transformation, standardization, or modernization initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant Azure certifications preferred, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and support Azure cloud infrastructure services across compute, networking, identity, storage, and security domains.
  • Contribute to the design and ongoing evolution of enterprise Azure cloud platform capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules using Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or similar technologies.
  • Support implementation of standardized cloud deployment patterns, automation frameworks, and self-service cloud capabilities.
  • Integrate cloud solutions into existing enterprise infrastructure while ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Produce technical designs, deployment documentation, operational procedures, and engineering standards.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operational tasks using PowerShell, scripting, Azure Automation, and DevOps tooling.
  • Support adoption of CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and cloud engineering best practices across technology teams.
  • Contribute to development of standardized cloud platform services, golden paths, and deployment templates.
  • Collaborate with architects and development teams to implement automated, repeatable, and governed cloud solutions.
  • Promote platform engineering principles focused on standardization, automation, self-service, and operational maturity.
