About The Position

As an experienced AWS Java Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and evolving the cloud infrastructure that powers Sapio’s SaaS platform. Working primarily with Java and AWS-native technologies, you will help design and improve the systems that enable reliable, scalable, and secure deployments across our global customer base.

You will be part of our core platform engineering team, working closely with colleagues based in the United States to enhance the performance, resilience, and automation of our cloud environment.
The work of the platform team sits at the heart of how Sapio delivers its product. Your contributions will directly influence platform reliability, deployment efficiency, and infrastructure scalability as we continue to grow our customer base. Because of the central role the platform plays in our business, this team’s work is highly visible across the company, including to executive leadership.
This is a critical engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and building systems that enable product teams to move faster while maintaining high levels of reliability and performance.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related technical field
• Several years of hands-on AWS experience in a professional environment
• Solid Java programming skills -- must be proficient and comfortable with Java development workflows
• Experience with software development in a team environment
• Strong programming skills with detailed knowledge of Java
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and fact-finding skills
• Proven organizational skills, with the ability to deliver agreed workload within deadlines whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Self-starter who is happy to learn from colleagues
• Great communicator with strong collaboration skills
• Problem solver with determination and persistence
• Focused on activities that add value and avoiding those that do not

Nice To Haves

• Experience with specific AWS services (EC2, ECS, RDS, Lambda, S3, VPC, CloudFormation)
• Strong knowledge of AWS networking and security controls, including VPC design, subnet isolation, VPN connectivity, VPC peering, and PrivateLink
• Usage of IaaC (Terraform/OpenTofu/Pulumi) for managing resources
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Knowledge of build systems (Maven, Gradle)

Responsibilities

• Extend and enhance our in-house platform for managing and automating SaaS deployments into AWS environments.
• Write and maintain Java code to deploy and integrate AWS resources for our offerings
• Design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure components for SaaS deployments
• Troubleshoot and resolve deployment and infrastructure issues
• Participate in code reviews and maintain documentation for technical solutions
• Follow established SDLC processes and development standards
• Support testing and validation of platform deployments and updates
