You are a cloud and platform engineer who builds reusable infrastructure, automation, and engineering foundations for product teams. You excel at making environments secure, repeatable, observable, reliable, and user-friendly for developers. Requirements

  • Professional experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, SRE, or comparable work, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or another major cloud platform.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or a comparable technology.
  • Experience with CI/CD, Git-based workflows, scripting/automation, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, container platforms, or comparable workload orchestration technologies.
  • Understanding of cloud networking, identity/access, observability, security, reliability, and operational troubleshooting.
  • For candidates with deeper experience, demonstrated ability to lead complex platform initiatives, define standards, mentor others, and influence architecture and reliability decisions across teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Cloud certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or comparable providers.
  • Experience with Helm, Argo CD, GitOps, service mesh, policy as code, secrets management, or platform engineering products.
  • Experience with SRE practices, SLIs/SLOs, incident management, capacity planning, FinOps, resilience engineering, or disaster recovery.
  • Experience with federal cloud security, zero trust, FedRAMP-oriented environments, or regulated systems.
  • Ability to collaborate with development and security teams and take increasing ownership of platform components or cloud workstreams.
  • Previous federal consulting, government, or mission-oriented delivery experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, automate, and operate cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities across AWS, Azure, or comparable environments.
  • Create and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or comparable technologies.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, deployment automation, environment provisioning, and release controls.
  • Deploy and operate containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, managed container platforms, or comparable technologies.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, observability, resilience, backup/recovery, and reliability practices for cloud platforms and applications.
  • Apply DevSecOps, identity/access, secrets management, network, configuration, patching, and security controls throughout platform engineering.
  • Automate repetitive operational work using scripting and engineering tools and support incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Use AFS-approved AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows to accelerate automation, troubleshooting, documentation, code development, and platform analysis while validating outputs.
  • Partner with product engineers, Quality Engineers, Enterprise Architects, security teams, delivery leaders, and client stakeholders.
  • As your experience grows, lead complex platform initiatives, establish reusable patterns and standards, mentor engineers, and shape cloud/platform architecture and reliability practices.
