About The Position

THREE is hiring a Cloud Operations Manager to own and evolve our internal IT environment, including Azure infrastructure, identity and access, endpoint management, security posture, employee lifecycle operations, audit readiness, and the application ecosystem that supports the business. This is the senior IT role at THREE and a true player/coach position. This role combines strategic ownership with hands-on execution. You will set standards, make sound technical and operational decisions, troubleshoot directly when needed, and own outcomes across the environment. While not a software engineering role, this position requires strong technical fluency across modern cloud platforms, security tooling, observability, and application infrastructure to effectively contribute to system design and operational decisions. You will partner closely with Engineering, Security, Finance, People Operations, helpdesk, and business stakeholders to ensure the IT environment is secure, maintainable, audit-ready, and responsive to business needs. This is a hybrid remote role that requires onsite presence in Pittston, PA at least once every other month. Candidates must live within a reasonable driving distance of either the Pittston, PA or Omaha, NE BHDIC office for required onsite meetings as needed in whichever BHDIC office is local to the employee.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading or owning IT operations in a mid-sized organization
  • Strong working knowledge of Azure, including identity, RBAC, governance, subscriptions, and cost management
  • Hands-on experience with identity and access management, endpoint management, and security operations
  • Experience building and maintaining IT processes that support audit and compliance needs
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a willingness to engage in hands-on problem solving
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • High level of accountability and ownership of outcomes

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in regulated industries (insurance, financial services, healthcare, or similar)
  • Familiarity with control frameworks such as SOX ITGCs, SOC 2, or equivalent
  • Experience working with cloud-based application ecosystems and observability tooling
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the Azure environment, ensuring it is organized, governed, secure, and cost-effective
  • Define and maintain standards for subscriptions, RBAC, tagging, ownership, and overall operational hygiene
  • Continuously improve infrastructure reliability, visibility, and cost awareness
  • Maintain and communicate disaster recovery strategies across core systems, including Azure-based services and vendor-supported platforms, and ensure recovery approaches are understood and actionable
  • Own identity and access across Azure and core business systems
  • Manage joiner, mover, and leaver processes, ensuring access is provisioned, updated, and removed securely, consistently, and with full auditability
  • Define, maintain privileged access practices and periodic access reviews
  • Ensure the ability to quickly and accurately answer access-related inquiries
  • Define and maintain escalation paths for security incidents across internal systems and vendor-managed platforms, ensuring issues are routed and resolved appropriately
  • Establish and maintain practical security baselines across MFA, conditional access, endpoint posture, logging, alerting, and patching
  • Identify and address security gaps proactively
  • Partner with Security to ensure alignment with broader risk and compliance expectations
  • Maintain a clear and current system of record for all core systems, including ownership, hosting model (internal vs. vendor), access management approach, and business purpose, and serve as the authoritative source for this information
  • Maintain working knowledge of business systems, cloud platforms, observability tooling, and SaaS ecosystem
  • Maintain working awareness of key vendor platforms and dependencies, including how they impact security, access, and operational continuity
  • Support business and engineering teams in making informed platform decisions
  • Define and enforce clear boundaries between helpdesk responsibilities and escalated IT ownership, ensuring efficient resolution paths and accountability
  • Partner with the internal helpdesk function to improve support quality, escalation paths, and operational consistency
  • Enhance onboarding and offboarding workflows
  • Step into complex or high-impact issues when necessary
  • Own IT-related audit readiness, including SOX and similar control frameworks
  • Maintain evidence for access management, privileged access, and lifecycle processes
  • Ensure controls are documented, executed, evidenced, and operating effectively, including readiness for internal and external testing
  • Partner with Finance and compliance functions on control execution and validation
