About The Position

As a Cloud Infrastructure Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and optimizing scalable cloud-native infrastructure and services across enterprise environments. This role emphasizes cloud solution engineering, platform governance, automation, and performance optimization to enable secure, resilient, and cost-effective cloud operations. You will collaborate with engineering, security, DevOps, and application development teams to deliver robust cloud architectures tailored to business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience
  • 5+ years of client-facing consulting experience encompassing cloud and on-premises architecture strategy and delivery across enterprise environments
  • 5+ years of experience in IT, inclusive of demonstrated hands-on expertise in cloud engineering or cloud architecture roles across one or more major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS), virtualization, and cloud-native services
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and associated certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert)
  • Proficiency in Terraform, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), and scripting languages (Python, Bash)
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, service meshes, and cloud networking
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing cloud governance frameworks and security controls
  • Knowledge of hybrid and multicloud strategies and tooling
  • Experience with agile methodologies and DevSecOps culture
  • Familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure patterns, including GPU-backed compute environments, AI/ML pipeline architecture, vector database design, and large language model (LLM) deployment on cloud platforms
  • Ability to lead engineering workshops and influence cloud adoption strategy across teams
  • Strong sense of ownership, initiative, and ability to work independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

  • Design and document highly available, secure, and performant cloud-native architectures across AWS (preferred), Azure, and GCP.
  • Define engineering standards and reusable patterns for compute, networking, storage, and platform services (e.g., containers, serverless, messaging, databases).
  • Integrate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, ARM templates, or CloudFormation to build repeatable deployments.
  • Establish and implement cloud adoption frameworks and landing zone strategies (e.g., AWS Landing Zones, Azure Landing Zones, GCP Foundations) to ensure consistent, governed, and scalable cloud foundations across enterprise environments.
  • Lead and architect end-to-end cloud migration initiatives, encompassing assessment, planning, and execution of lift-and-shift, replatforming, and application modernization strategies.
  • Evaluate existing on-premises and hybrid workloads to define migration roadmaps aligned with business priorities, risk tolerance, and target architectures.
  • Apply proven migration frameworks and patterns (e.g., AWS Migration Acceleration Program, Azure Migrate, Google Cloud Migration Framework) to drive structured, low-disruption transitions.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to validate migration readiness and ensure continuity of operations throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Lead the implementation of CI/CD pipelines and automated infrastructure deployments.
  • Engineer resilient, auto-scaling solutions using cloud-native tools (e.g., AWS ECS/Fargate, Azure Kubernetes Service, Google Cloud Run).
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, GCP Operations Suite).
  • Enforce cloud governance policies for tagging, resource usage, budget thresholds, and identity management.
  • Architect secure environments using IAM, encryption, key management, and network security controls.
  • Support regulatory and compliance requirements (HIPAA, FedRAMP, ISO 27001) through secure design patterns and audit readiness.
  • Continuously evaluate performance and cost efficiency of deployed cloud resources.
  • Optimize workloads using rightsizing, reserved instances, and modern architectural strategies (e.g., event-driven, microservices).
  • Conduct architecture reviews and well-architected assessments to recommend improvements.
  • Apply FinOps principles and tooling (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability) to establish financial accountability, drive cost transparency, and optimize cloud spend across business units.
  • Support SRE principles by embedding resilience, fault-tolerance, and operational visibility in all solutions.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to implement monitoring, logging, and alerting at scale.
  • Troubleshoot systemic issues in cloud environments and drive root cause resolution.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders, leading discovery and design sessions that translate complex requirements into actionable cloud infrastructure strategies.
  • Present architecture recommendations, roadmaps, and solution outcomes to executive and senior stakeholder audiences, communicating technical concepts with clarity and business context.
  • Drive cloud adoption strategy across client organizations, influencing decision-making at the architectural and investment levels.
  • Guide and mentor engineering and development teams on cloud-native best practices, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Champion knowledge sharing through documentation, internal communities of practice, and cross-functional enablement sessions.
