About The Position
Verisk's FAST is seeking a FinOps Engineer to assist with cloud cost management and critical infrastructure optimization initiatives. The role supports adherence to FinOps best practices, establishes budgets and alerts, investigates patterns and trends, and assists with forecasting and planning. The engineer collaborates with internal teams to improve processes, offerings, and financial models.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, IT or system support, or similar related experience.
- Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and general cloud computing concepts.
- Interest in AI and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn how they apply to cloud optimization.
- Moderate understanding of infrastructure metrics, monitoring, and analytics.
- Passion for technology and a focus on automation.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
Nice To Haves
- AWS certification(s).
Responsibilities
- Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and proposing improvements or new solutions.
- Support internal teams with cloud cost information, prepare budgets, and recommend usage limits to senior management.
- Prepare cost estimates and forecasts for new architectures and continuously improve pricing models for existing architectures.
- Document procedures, configurations, and best practices.
