About The Position

SteerBridge is seeking a Cloud FinOps Analyst to support cloud and IT operations for its technology team and federal programs. The role brings financial transparency and cost discipline to AWS, software, SaaS, and license spending by tracking, reporting, forecasting, and reducing costs. It applies FinOps practices to connect engineering, finance, and program leadership. This is a technical role requiring hands-on work with cloud billing and usage data: querying data, building dashboards, identifying idle or oversized resources, and explaining savings to engineering and finance audiences. The analyst will automate discovery and reporting so recurring waste is detected, and will bring quantified optimization opportunities with clear implementation paths to cloud and IT teams. The position is hybrid and based in Vienna, Virginia.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required under applicable federal contract requirements.
Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearance required for the role; whether a clearance applies is to be confirmed.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Finance, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
At least 1 year of experience in cloud financial management (FinOps), cloud operations, IT asset or license management, or financial or data analysis in a technical environment.
Familiarity with AWS billing data and the pricing drivers behind compute, storage, networking, and data transfer.
Strong SQL and spreadsheet skills for reports, forecasts, and reconciliations.
Basic scripting skills in Python or PowerShell.

Nice To Haves

FinOps Certified Practitioner or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification.
Familiarity with the FinOps Foundation framework, FOCUS, and the AWS Well-Architected cost optimization pillar.
Experience with AWS cost management tools such as Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, Cost Anomaly Detection, and Compute Optimizer.
Experience with reporting tools such as Amazon Athena, QuickSight, or Power BI.
Experience in AWS GovCloud (US), multi-account AWS Organizations, consolidated billing, or government contracts with program-level cost accounting.
Exposure to infrastructure as code (Terraform) and Git-based merge request workflows.
Experience managing Microsoft 365 and SaaS licensing, renewals, and vendor spend.

Responsibilities

Produce monthly cloud and IT cost and usage reports by program, environment, and service for leadership, finance, and customers.
Build budgets and spend forecasts; reconcile AWS invoices against budgets and program allocations; and explain variances.
Develop and automate cost and usage reporting pipelines using AWS Cost and Usage Reports or Data Exports, Amazon Athena, dashboards, SQL, and scheduled scripts; document reporting methodology.
Build automated discovery of idle, orphaned, oversized, and untagged AWS resources, and quantify savings from rightsizing, storage lifecycle, and cleanup.
Analyze and recommend Savings Plans and Reserved Instances purchases, and track utilization and coverage.
Present optimization opportunities with business cases and implementation paths; partner with finance, program leadership, cloud engineering, and IT to track opportunities through realized savings using FinOps and AWS Well-Architected practices.
Track software licenses, SaaS subscriptions, and renewal dates; reconcile IT vendor invoices against contracts and usage; and support true-ups, renewals, and seat reclamation.
Define and document cost-allocation tagging standards, report on compliance, and propose cost guardrails such as AWS Budgets, anomaly detection, and lifecycle policies as infrastructure-as-code merge requests.
