Cloud Engineering Intern
About The Position
Leidos is seeking a Cloud Engineering Intern for its Summer 2027 Internship Program, starting in May 2027. The intern will join the Digital Sector and support the DIET engineering team on the Defense Enclave Services (DES) contract. This is a 100% remote position with a primary focus on U.S. Eastern time zones, and provides hands-on experience in project management and engineering support. The intern will contribute to engineering projects that modernize DODNet, including modernization of the DODNet wireless LAN and migration of services to the DODNet Azure Cloud. Candidates must be based in the United States and have reliable internet access for remote work and video conferencing. U.S. citizenship is required, and a Secret security clearance is required to start; Leidos will sponsor a clearance if necessary.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree; Network Engineering, IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong interest in network and cloud engineering, systems engineering, or computer science.
- Familiarity with Microsoft tools such as SharePoint, Excel, Teams, or the Power Platform, and Azure; academic or personal experience is acceptable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a virtual team environment and manage multiple technical tasks simultaneously.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- A Secret security clearance is required to start; Leidos will sponsor if necessary.
- Must be based in the United States and have a reliable internet connection for remote work and video conferencing.
Responsibilities
- Support the project manager with engineering project management efforts across multiple projects.
- Assist with configuring services in Azure cloud.
- Assist with implementing network modernization policy updates.
- Assist SME teams with preparation and uploading of Contract Deliverables (CDRLs).
- Organize and support engineering project tasks and triage issues for SME teams.
- Assist with coordination and communication for engineering testing activities.
- Rotate through engineering support duties to understand the phases of design, test, migration, and operations.
