About The Position

NC DHHS seeks a cloud engineer to build robust, scalable cloud applications and serverless systems across AWS and Azure. The role focuses on backend development, generative AI and machine-learning integration, and deployment of cloud-native components, including Lambda functions, cloud databases, communication workflows, and content delivery systems. The work arrangement is hybrid, with a worksite at 1915 Health Services Way, Raleigh, NC 27607. The listed assignment runs from October 5, 2026, through October 4, 2027.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of hands-on cloud development experience; AWS is preferred and Azure is beneficial.
• At least 4 years of experience with AWS Lambda, RDS, S3, DynamoDB, and infrastructure-as-code patterns.
• At least 4 years of experience implementing generative AI models using Bedrock or SageMaker.
• At least 3 years of experience with Amazon Connect and CloudFront configurations.
• At least 3 years of experience with cloud identity management, including IAM and Azure AD/Entra ID.
• At least 6 years of proficiency in Python, Node.js, SQL, or scalable backend languages.
• At least 7 years of ability to organize, prioritize, and follow complex or detailed technical procedures.
• At least 3 years of experience with Agile development, such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
• Must be able to attend an in-person interview.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy serverless applications using AWS Lambda.
• Design hybrid cloud architectures integrating AWS and Azure services.
• Integrate generative AI foundation models using Amazon Bedrock or SageMaker.
• Manage cloud databases, including Amazon RDS and DynamoDB.
• Implement customer communication workflows using Amazon Connect.
• Configure Amazon S3 buckets and optimize global content delivery using CloudFront.
• Manage cloud security, including IAM roles, keys, secrets, and API gateways.
