About The Position

As an Availity Cloud Engineer IV (Senior Level), you will provide senior-level ownership for the operation, automation, reliability, and continuous improvement of Availity’s AWS cloud platforms. This role is hands-on and production focused, supporting Cloud responsibilities across infrastructure provisioning, Kubernetes/EKS operations, EC2 and AMI lifecycle, observability, incident response, patching support, compliance evidence, cost optimization, and operational documentation. You will partner with Cloud Architects, Security, Product, and other business partners to implement approved designs, strengthen runbooks and standards, mentor engineers, and drive stable, secure, and scalable cloud operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience with cloud implementations, production cloud operations, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • 4+ years of practical public cloud experience, with AWS strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience administering, troubleshooting, and supporting AWS EKS/Kubernetes and containerized workloads in production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Terragrunt, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
  • Experience designing, maintaining, or supporting CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar.
  • Scripting experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar languages used for operational automation.
  • Experience with common AWS services and cloud operations patterns, including IAM, VPC/networking concepts, EC2, load balancing, storage, backup/snapshot, and logging/monitoring services.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or similar.
  • Experience with Git-based workflows, branching, pull requests, code review, and version control best practices.
  • Experience supporting Windows and Linux operating systems in cloud-hosted environments.
  • Working knowledge of AMI image creation and lifecycle processes.
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation, runbooks, implementation notes, and operational standards.
  • Strong technical, process, and problem-solving proficiency with the ability to work independently on complex operational issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to partner with engineers, Cloud Architects, Security, Product, Business Management, and other stakeholders.
  • Must be able to use a camera for all virtual meetings.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes certification, or similar certification.
  • Experience working with Product and Business Management teams.
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving technology environment.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery practices and sprint-based work management.
  • Experience supporting compliance, audit evidence requests, change management, risk remediation, or operational governance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provision, operate, and improve AWS infrastructure using Terraform, Terragrunt, Ansible, CloudFormation, and approved automation patterns.
  • Administer and troubleshoot AWS EKS/Kubernetes environments, including cluster health, node group lifecycle, workloads, networking dependencies, and operational readiness.
  • Develop and maintain scripts, CI/CD workflows, and automation to reduce manual effort, improve repeatability, and strengthen production support.
  • Support EC2, Windows, Linux, AMI image creation, patching coordination, and other infrastructure lifecycle activities within CloudOps standards.
  • Improve observability by strengthening dashboards, alerts, logs, metrics, and runbooks for production services.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, incident response, escalations, and post-incident improvement activities for cloud infrastructure and platform services.
  • Monitor and manage ServiceNow and Jira work throughout sprint cycles, including operational tasks, change records, incidents, requests, and project deliverables.
  • Participate in daily standups and status check-ins, provide clear updates, and identify risks, blockers, and dependencies early.
  • Read and understand system, functional, security, and operational requirements; report gaps to Technical Leads, Cloud Architects, and stakeholders.
  • Write technical specifications, implementation notes, operational documentation, and runbooks that enable repeatable support and knowledge sharing.
  • Consult with Cloud Architects and business partners to confirm scope, effort, testing plans, implementation approach, and operational handoff.
  • Accurately scope project time and resources required to complete assigned work, reviewing estimates with senior staff as needed.
  • Perform testing, validation, troubleshooting, and debugging for infrastructure changes and automation before production release.
  • Mentor junior associates, promote CloudOps standards, and model senior-level ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
