The Enterprise Technology & Security Summer Internship Program is a critical program within Enterprise Technology & Security Services that helps passionate early career professionals gain real-world exposure to groundbreaking technology. This Internship program begins in late May 2027, and will be based out of one of our headquarters in Johnston, RI, Phoenix, AZ, or Plano, TX. Cloud Engineer Interns work alongside engineers to help modernize the way Citizens stores and accesses data. Working in a collaborative environment, interns will enhance cloud engineering expertise while helping to seize opportunities for cloud implementation. Through hands-on experience in this role, the Cloud Engineer Intern will gain exposure to blueprint design and cloud architecture concepts while contributing to the development of cloud-based solutions. They will develop an understanding of cloud-based solution implementation by helping support cloud technologies across the organization. Interns will strengthen technical problem-solving skills through providing technical support to cloud solution end users and partners. They will build experience monitoring the performance of cloud applications and solutions and identifying opportunities for improvement. Additionally, they will develop a strong foundation in cloud security and engineering best practices by supporting adherence to cybersecurity protocols and collaborating with cybersecurity and software engineering teams. In this 10-week program, interns will gain a strong understanding of Cloud Services at Citizens. This program also provides mentorship, exposure to senior leadership, and participation in a variety of activities to further develop professional skills, including orientation and networking with all ETS interns, professional development workshops (such as Personal Branding and Communicating with Impact), social activities (such as sporting events and a bank-wide intern BBQ), and dedicated community service activities. High-performing interns interested in pursuing a career within Enterprise Technology & Security may be extended an offer to return as a Full-time colleague in our Enterprise Technology & Security Development Program (ETSDP) upon graduation. The ETSDP is a full-time program that helps rising professionals build a meaningful career within software, network/systems, data or cloud engineering, technology risk and security.
