About The Position

The Cloud Engineer I is an early-career engineering role responsible for supporting the design, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organization's cloud infrastructure and platform services. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, this role assists with provisioning cloud resources, automating operational tasks, monitoring system health, supporting incident response, and maintaining secure, reliable cloud environments. The Cloud Engineer I partners with Infrastructure, Software Engineering, Information Security, Enterprise Applications, and Architecture teams to help deliver scalable cloud solutions that improve operational efficiency, system reliability, and developer productivity while building foundational cloud engineering expertise across modern cloud platforms, automation, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of cloud computing concepts and public cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Basic understanding of cloud networking, compute, storage, identity and access management, and virtualization
  • Basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud monitoring, DevOps, and Platform Engineering concepts
  • Familiarity with cloud security principles and operational best practices
  • Supports cloud infrastructure deployment and configuration
  • Assists with infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code tools
  • Performs basic troubleshooting of cloud infrastructure and platform services
  • Documents operational procedures and technical configurations
  • Supports monitoring, alerting, patching, and cloud operations
  • Demonstrates analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Learns new technologies and engineering concepts quickly
  • Applies sound judgment when resolving routine technical issues

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 0–2 + years of relevant cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, DevOps, or technology experience
  • Foundational knowledge of cloud computing principles and enterprise infrastructure technologies
  • Foundational knowledge of networking, virtualization, storage, operating systems, and cloud infrastructure principles
  • Experience using Linux and/or Windows server operating systems

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, co-op, academic project, or hands-on experience supporting cloud infrastructure, Platform Engineering, or DevOps environments
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), Google Cloud Digital Leader, or comparable foundational cloud certification
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies), scripting, source control (Git), or CI/CD concepts through coursework, internships, certifications, or hands-on projects

Responsibilities

  • Assist with provisioning, configuring, and maintaining cloud infrastructure in support of enterprise applications and services
  • Perform routine operational activities to ensure cloud environments remain secure, available, and performant
  • Support cloud resource lifecycle management, including deployments, updates, and decommissioning
  • Monitor cloud environments and respond to operational alerts under guidance
  • Contribute to infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Support automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency and consistency
  • Participate in maintaining reusable deployment templates and configuration standards
  • Assist in monitoring cloud services, system performance, and platform health
  • Participate in troubleshooting infrastructure issues and production incidents
  • Help document root cause findings and corrective actions following operational events
  • Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities
  • Follow established cloud security standards, identity and access management practices, and organizational policies
  • Assist with vulnerability remediation, patch management, and security updates
  • Support compliance initiatives through documentation and execution of operational controls
  • Work closely with software engineers, infrastructure teams, security engineers, and other technical partners to support cloud-based solutions
  • Document technical procedures, operational runbooks, and standard operating practices
  • Participate in code reviews, team knowledge sharing, and continuous learning opportunities
  • Continuously build cloud engineering knowledge through hands-on experience, certifications, and professional development
