Cloud DevOps Support Engineer

ECS Tech Inc•Arlington, VA
•$90,000 - $100,000

About The Position

Everforth ECS is seeking a Cloud DevOps Support Engineer to support a Department of Homeland Security cloud operations and platform team in a regulated, security-conscious environment. The position is based in the Washington, DC metro area or can be remote. It is an operational support role, not a hands-on infrastructure or security engineering position. The engineer coordinates access requests, outage communications, change requests, and schedule changes; documents processes and decisions; and determines whether to resolve an issue or route it to the appropriate engineer. The role works closely with security and platform engineers, with responsibilities expected to grow as familiarity with the environment increases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • US citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust.
  • Minimum of 3 years of general work experience.
  • 3–5+ years of general IT, operations, or technical support experience.
  • Comfort working in a cloud environment; hands-on infrastructure experience is not required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical issues clearly to engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to triage and prioritize requests based on urgency and impact.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, particularly with access management, documentation, and change tracking.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a government or federal contracting environment.
  • AWS cloud experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Triage incoming requests, access issues, service outages, and change requests; route them appropriately or resolve them when within the role's scope.
  • Track and coordinate change requests, including planned changes, approvals, and required coordination.
  • Support scheduling and coordination across the operations team, organizing changes, maintenance windows, and requests.
  • Document processes, decisions, and recurring issues to maintain a clear team record and shared knowledge.
  • Write and maintain SOPs, runbooks for common operational tasks, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Manage user access requests, provisioning, and deprovisioning across cloud accounts and tools.
  • Monitor system health and basic operational dashboards, flagging issues before they escalate.
  • Support customer and internal requests, set expectations, and keep requesters updated through resolution.
  • Recognize work outside operational support, such as infrastructure changes or security engineering, and hand it to the appropriate person.
