About The Position

The Cloud/DevOps Engineer designs, builds, and supports cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines for Priority Dispatch’s public safety software products, including ProQA, AQUA, and other platforms. The role focuses on Microsoft Azure, Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD automation using GitHub and GitHub Actions. Working closely with development, QA, and security teams, the engineer helps ensure mission-critical applications are deployed safely, monitored effectively, and reliably supported, including ProQA’s 24/7/365 service for emergency call centers. The position reports to the Information Systems Manager and contributes to scaling the company’s DevOps practices as its product portfolio grows. The role is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and follows a hybrid work model. It includes participation in a sustainable on-call rotation and may require after-hours support as needed. Occasional travel of less than 5% for training may be required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
2–5 years of experience in a Cloud/DevOps engineering role or related technical position.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including core compute, networking, and storage services.
Experience writing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
Working knowledge of Azure cloud security practices, including IAM, RBAC, network security, and secrets management.
Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
Scripting experience with tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation and tooling.
Experience supporting production systems, including participation in an on-call rotation.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, QA, and security teams.
Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to users and programmers.
Ability to multitask technical problems efficiently.

Nice To Haves

Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker.
Experience with Kubernetes or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure for ProQA, AQUA, and other products.
Develop and maintain Terraform Infrastructure as Code to provision, version, and manage cloud resources consistently across environments.
Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions to automate testing, builds, and deployments.
Implement and enforce Azure cloud security practices, including identity and access management, role-based access control, network security, and secrets management.
Monitor production systems and participate in an on-call rotation supporting ProQA’s 24/7/365 service.
Automate deployment, scaling, and recovery processes to reduce manual work and improve reliability.
Collaborate with development and QA teams to integrate security and reliability practices into the software development lifecycle.
Support containerization and orchestration efforts, including Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service, as needed.
Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, networking, and deployment issues across cloud environments.
Maintain documentation for infrastructure, deployment processes, and on-call runbooks.
Keep current with Azure services, DevOps tooling, and cloud security practices, and recommend improvements.
Provide after-hours support as needed.
