About The Position

The Cloud Applications Administrator will work on our diverse client-facing support team. This position will work directly with vendors, University staff, and consultants to maintain cloud-based and local solutions for Penn Engineering faculty, staff, and students and will be responsible for managing a variety of cloud services and on-premises resources. Hybrid work eligible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field and one to two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Cloud services, in particular Google Workspace for Education.
  • Experience with WordPress and PHP highly desirable
  • Experience with Apache and webservers
  • Experience working in Linux environments
  • Working knowledge scripting in Shell, Perl, and Python
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, configure, and support cloud-based platforms used by administrative departments, faculty, staff, and students, including Google Workspace for Education, Freshservice, Slack, Slate, and others.
  • Perform ongoing administration and maintenance, including changes, modifications, or improvements of cloud services to ensure reliability, security, and data privacy and compliance.
  • Maintenance, configuration, and management of hosted websites on Pantheon and on-premise webservers.
  • Work with stakeholders to define standards, best practices, and long-term plans for the services, and recommend solutions based on those needs.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and service changes, and provide support for troubleshooting, access, and issue resolution as needed.
  • Participation in our on-call support rotation. On-call work may be required during non-business hours to respond to urgent, high-priority, and escalated service issues or outages. This includes the potential for both evening and weekend hours.
