About The Position

Cayenta, a division of Harris, is seeking a highly skilled Cloud and Systems Administrator to provide hands-on administration, support, and operational oversight across our cloud-based technology environment. This role combines Microsoft Azure platform administration, cloud-based systems support, Microsoft cloud services administration, cybersecurity support, vendor coordination, and operational maintenance responsibilities. The successful candidate will be technically capable, service-oriented, and detail-focused, with the ability to support reliable, secure, and cost-effective cloud operations. This position may provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and operational support to Junior Azure Administrators, IT support resources, and Azure Information Security Analysts as required. The position will also work closely with internal staff, external vendors, consultants, and information security resources to support the organization's cloud-based technology needs.

Requirements

  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cloud Computing, or related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive IT, systems, or cloud administration experience, including at least five years of hands-on Microsoft Azure administration.
  • Strong experience with Azure infrastructure, networking, identity, monitoring, backup, security, governance, and cost management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, Conditional Access, MFA, Windows based systems, Linux systems, PowerShell, Azure CLI, and automation tools.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, disaster recovery, operational best practices, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Strong communication, judgment, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote team environment.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional Microsoft Azure, security, or architecture certifications such as AZ-305, SC-200, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Networking, Docker, containers, cloud-native architectures, or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365 administration, or SaaS-based business applications.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools such as Azure Resource Manager templates, Bicep, Ansible, GitOps, PowerShell, or Azure CLI.
  • Familiarity with enterprise landing zones, DevOps, CI/CD, cloud governance, security monitoring, or public sector environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for staff related to cloud-based applications, Microsoft 365 services, email, identity and access, virtual meeting tools, endpoint devices, mobile devices, printers, peripherals, and other approved technology services.
  • Respond to, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day IT and cloud service issues in a timely and professional manner, escalating complex matters to external vendors, consultants, or service providers where required.
  • Configure, administer, maintain, and support cloud-based systems and services, including Azure virtual machines, storage accounts, networking components, identity services, backups, and related Microsoft cloud technologies, while supporting end-user devices and peripherals as required.
  • Support the setup, configuration, administration, and ongoing management of internal applications and products hosted across Linux, Windows, containerized, and other cloud-based platforms, including solutions delivered to customers as managed services.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes by preparing required user access, configuring cloud service accounts, provisioning or removing system access, and maintaining access records in accordance with organizational procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and documentation for cloud services, Azure resources, software and SaaS licenses, endpoint devices, warranties, vendor agreements, and related technology assets.
  • Assist with cloud-hosted website updates, SaaS platform administration, technology implementations, software deployments, system configuration changes, and routine cloud maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with external IT vendors, cloud service providers, consultants, and managed service partners to support operational requirements and technology-related projects.
  • Support cybersecurity and data protection practices by assisting with cloud service updates, endpoint updates, identity and password management, MFA practices, backups, and adherence to organizational security procedures.
  • Support compliance with organizational policies, procedures, information management standards, cloud governance practices, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, impartiality, sound judgment, and discretion in all work related to organizational operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional evening, weekend, or after-hours support may be required to support planned maintenance, operational incidents, cloud service changes, or critical service restoration.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Azure resources using best practices, cloud governance principles, and standardized processes.
  • Provision and maintain Azure workloads, including virtual machines, storage accounts, databases, networking components, containers, PaaS services, and related cloud resources.
  • Support scalable, highly available, and resilient cloud infrastructure aligned with organizational requirements.
  • Assist with Azure subscription management, resource organization, management groups, tagging standards, governance controls, and platform standardization.
  • Support cloud resource lifecycle management, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, optimization, and decommissioning.
  • Manage Microsoft Entra ID, as required including group management, authentication controls, MFA, and Conditional Access policies.
  • Configure and maintain Azure role-based access control across subscriptions, resource groups, and cloud resources.
  • Support Privileged Identity Management practices to promote least-privilege access, just-in-time access, approval workflows, and access governance.
  • Support secure onboarding, offboarding, access reviews, and privileged access reviews.
  • Assist with identity-related troubleshooting for Microsoft 365, Azure, SaaS applications, and other cloud-integrated systems.
  • Configure and maintain Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and related cloud monitoring tools.
  • Support alerting, proactive monitoring, and operational dashboards for Azure resources, cloud services, applications, and security events.
  • Monitor system health, availability, performance, and security indicators across Azure and related cloud-based systems.
  • Assist with incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and cloud service restoration activities.
  • Maintain operational documentation, support procedures, cloud diagrams, reports, and service-level visibility as required.
  • Manage Azure Backup, Recovery Services Vaults, backup policies, retention settings, and related cloud backup solutions.
  • Support Azure Site Recovery and cloud-based disaster recovery planning activities.
  • Assist with defining, maintaining, and validating recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives for cloud-hosted systems.
  • Conduct regular backup verification, recovery testing, and disaster recovery support activities.
  • Support business continuity planning for Azure workloads, Microsoft cloud services, and other critical cloud-based systems.
  • Support the implementation of cloud security baselines and governance controls using Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, and related Microsoft security tools.
  • Review and assist with the remediation of Microsoft Defender for Cloud recommendations.
  • Work with information security resources to support threat detection, vulnerability management, secure configuration, and incident response.
  • Support compliance with organizational, regulatory, confidentiality, cloud governance, and information management requirements.
  • Participate in regular cloud and systems security posture reviews.
  • Assist with securing Azure resources, Microsoft 365 services, identities, privileged access, endpoints, and cloud-hosted data.
  • Monitor Azure consumption, budgets, cost trends, and cloud service usage.
  • Support tagging standards, cost allocation practices, resource ownership tracking, and cloud spend visibility.
  • Identify underused, oversized, orphaned, or unnecessary cloud resources and recommend optimization opportunities.
  • Assist with budget forecasting, cost-efficiency recommendations, and cloud usage reporting.
  • Support rightsizing, reserved capacity planning, lifecycle management, and other Azure cost optimization practices.
  • Configure and manage Azure virtual networks, subnets, network security groups, route tables, private endpoints, DNS, and related cloud networking components.
  • Support VPN gateways, ExpressRoute, Azure Firewall, secure remote access, and private connectivity where required.
  • Assist with secure and reliable connectivity between Azure resources, Microsoft cloud services, external vendors, partner environments, SaaS platforms, and on-premises systems where applicable.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, firewall, DNS, private endpoint, and cloud network performance issues.
  • Support secure network segmentation and access controls for cloud-hosted workloads.
  • Automate routine cloud administration and operational tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and other approved tools.
  • Support Infrastructure-as-Code practices using ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform.
  • Develop and maintain scripts, templates, documentation, and operational procedures for repeatable cloud administration.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across cloud operations, Azure administration, monitoring, security, governance, cost management, and service delivery.
  • Support standardization of cloud builds, access models, naming conventions, tagging, monitoring, backup, and security configurations.
  • Collaborate with internal staff, external vendors, consultants, cloud service providers, and managed service partners to support technology operations and projects.
  • Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and operational support to Junior Azure Administrators, IT support resources, and Azure Information Security Analysts as required.
  • Communicate cloud service issues, risks, recommendations, costs, security concerns, and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support cloud-related project planning, implementation activities, documentation, and transition to operational support.
