About The Position

The AWS Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure AWS cloud infrastructure. This role focuses on hands-on engineering tasks including automation, monitoring, and optimization of AWS services to support business applications and development teams.

Maintain strong knowledge of the newest Cloud technology and dynamically changing technical environments.
Strong threat hunting and incident detection skills
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization, both technical and non-technical.
Experience working with Cybersecurity tools.
Self-starter with desire to gain new knowledge and solve interesting problems.
Proven experience developing, operating, and maintaining security systems.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of security protocols and principles.
Ability to assess risks and form mitigation options by defining compensating controls.
Wide breadth of technical knowledge across operating system, network, and monitoring technologies.
Strong written/verbal communication, complimented by presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective rapport at all levels of the organization.
Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) initiatives and safety programs.
Ability to work under stress, meet multiple deadlines and maintain a calm and professional demeanor when adversity is encountered.
Display ability to interact effectively and courteously with all staff, management, and operations personnel; and, to answer all questions effectively in a pleasant and professional manner.
The understanding of the dichotomy between “spirit of the law” and “letter of the law” to help guide the organization appropriately in maintaining the security triad of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Nice To Haves

Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS).
Familiarity with serverless architecture (Lambda, API Gateway).
Knowledge of cost optimization strategies and AWS billing tools.
Experience integrating third-party APIs and services.
Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools like ELK Stack, Datadog, or Splunk.

Responsibilities

Design and implement AWS infrastructure using services like EC2, VPC, RDS, Lambda, and S3.
Automate provisioning and configuration using CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.
Manage and optimize storage solutions including S3 buckets, Glacier, and EBS volumes.
Implement IAM roles, policies, and identity federation for secure access control.
Monitor cloud environments using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Guard Duty.
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery using AWS native tools.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration (ECS, EKS).
Troubleshoot performance issues and conduct root cause analysis.
Maintain documentation of cloud architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
Stay current with AWS service updates and recommend improvements.
