About The Position

A Closing Manager is responsible for overseeing the Closing Department. This person will be responsible for ensuring that loan files are being closed, on time and accurately meeting regulatory, secondary market and bank standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), some college preferred
  • Work related experience should consist of minimum 5-8 years’ closing experience.
  • Minimum 3-4 years management experience required.
  • Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Bank operations, products and services; related state and federal laws and regulations, and other Bank operational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills – ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing, spreadsheet and specialty software programs.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct personnel.
  • Vision, hearing, speech, dexterity, visual concentration.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, sit and use hands and fingers.
  • Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled.
  • Learning, thinking, concentration, ability to exercise self-control, ability to work in a customer relations’ environment.
  • Must be able to pay close attention to detail and be able to work as a member of a team.
  • Must have the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and customers, and exercise self-control and diplomacy in customer and employee relations’ situations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and drive quality standards consistent with sound closing practices and oversight including regular reviews of investor, servicing, QC and audit reports related to individual closers, and overall department practices and procedures.
  • Manage, monitor and motivate individual team members to meet productivity goals to ensure service and response times are maintained to meet closing dates without compromising compliance with regulatory, industry, investor, and bank standards.
  • Hire, train and lead where needed with new program implementation and struggling team members. Responsible for ongoing coaching and annual reviews of supervised team members.
  • Continually exhibit a working knowledge of mortgage industry standards, guidelines and regulations. Must be a resource for all team members reporting up through this position.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills to resolve complex closing/servicing scenarios using sound judgement.
  • Lead, promote and maintain and positive team environment providing opportunities for team member growth and enrichment.
  • Demonstrate positive interdepartmental communication and collaboration working towards getting loans closed on time. Coordinate with Administration on vendor and systems needs for streamlining and improvements in process where needed.
  • Prioritize and work well under pressure to manage pipeline maintaining loan quality and meet production goals.
  • Adhere to First Bank’s Service Excellence Standards.
  • Completes annual compliance courses.
  • Adheres specifically to all corporate policies and procedures. Also adheres to Federal and State regulations and laws; including, the Bank Secrecy Act and the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
  • Performs other duties as required.
