Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience related to patient care or psychiatric training preferred
  • less than 1 year (six months) of nursing education preferred
  • equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining patient and staff safety by monitoring patient and assisting delegated nursing care.
  • Incorporates therapeutic and diversionary interventions to maintain patient safety, refocus the patient, and promote healthy behaviors as needed.
  • Assists patients with ambulation, hygiene, nutrition, linen changes, and other activities of daily living.
  • Identifies potential risks and early signs of escalating patient behaviors, such as agitation, confusion, and anxiety.
  • Keeps patient and staff safety at the forefront, engaging the patient in reduction techniques to maintain safety.
  • Incorporates problem solving and critical thinking skills to help implement behavioral interventions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
