About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinician Supervisor to provide clinical leadership and oversight for our Adult ASAM Level 2.5 Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and ASAM Level 3.1 Clinically Managed Low-Intensity Residential Services. The Clinician Supervisor will ensure clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, staff development, and quality service delivery in accordance with Virginia Medicaid, DMAS, DBHDS, CARF, and ASAM Third Edition requirements. The ideal candidate is a Licensed Mental Health Professional with strong leadership skills, experience in substance use and co-occurring treatment services.

Requirements

  • Must possess an active unrestricted Virginia license as one of the following: LPC – Licensed Professional Counselor Resident in Counseling LCSW – Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisee in Social Work
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing behavioral health and/or substance use treatment services.
  • Extensive knowledge of ASAM Third Edition Criteria.
  • Knowledge of Virginia Medicaid (DMAS) behavioral health regulations.
  • Knowledge of DBHDS licensing requirements.
  • Knowledge of CARF standards and accreditation processes.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria.
  • Experience with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze clinical documentation and identify compliance concerns.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHRs).

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with ASAM Level 2.5 and/or ASAM Level 3.1 services strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure clinical services are delivered in accordance with ASAM Third Edition criteria and evidence-based practices.
  • Review and approve assessments, individualized service plans, treatment plan updates, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other clinical documentation.
  • Complete LMHP components of service as required for service.
  • Provide clinical consultation regarding complex cases, co-occurring disorders, crisis intervention, and treatment planning.
  • Monitor staff performance and support professional growth and development.
  • Oversee daily clinical operations of Adult ASAM 2.5 and 3.1 programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Virginia Medicaid regulations, DBHDS licensing requirements, and agency policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, and performance outcome monitoring.
  • Ensure assessments adequately support authorization requests and continued stay reviews.
  • Monitor treatment progress and level-of-care determinations.
  • Collaborate with managed care organizations regarding authorizations, concurrent reviews, and appeals.
  • Conduct regular chart audits to ensure compliance.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Represent the organization professionally with external stakeholders.
