About The Position

The Clinician LHMP/LMHP-E will assess the needs of individuals referred to the program and use information obtained to develop and implement appropriate treatment approaches and counseling support services. These services include developing individual treatment plans, conducting assessments, providing counseling services, and educating individuals on available community resources. This position is grant based position and may come to an end with the ending of grant funding.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from a program that prepares individuals to practice counseling (60-hr Master's Program), offered by a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency.
  • No experience required.
  • Resident in Professional Counseling, Supervisee in Clinical Social Work, Resident in Licensed Marriage, Family Therapy, Resident in Substance Abuse Treatment, or eligibility to apply for residency.
  • New hires will be expected to apply for clinical supervision and residency within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of family systems theory and application, social ecological theory and application, behavioral therapies theory and application, cognitive-behavioral therapy theory and application, pragmatic family therapies theory and application, child development research and its application in treatment, social skills assessment and intervention.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to existing professional ethical standards.
  • Knowledge and ability to provide evidenced based group/individual therapy.
  • Knowledge and ability to complete psychiatrically based assessments.
  • Ability to form and maintain effective counseling relationships with clients.
  • Ability to monitor client movement in the therapy process and terminate the therapeutic relationship in appropriate ways.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally, both in person, and by telephone.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and to prepare written documents.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent and dependable work schedule.
  • Ability to travel to meetings, other campuses, and counseling sites.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment.
  • Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required.
  • Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
  • Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Attend trainings and Horizon meetings, which may require travel to various Horizon sites.
