About The Position

The Behavioral Health Clinician provides comprehensive behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, and care coordination for justice-involved adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions participating in the Recovery and Reentry Program. The clinician delivers evidence-based, trauma-informed, person-centered services within correctional facilities and community settings to promote recovery, facilitate successful trauma-informed, person-centered services within correctional facilities and community settings to promote recovery, successful community reintegration, reduce overdose risk, and decrease recidivism. The clinician collaborates closely with correctional staff, medical providers, peer recovery specialists, case managers, probation/parole, and community treatment providers to ensure continuity of care from incarceration through community reentry.

Requirements

Master's Degree from a program that prepares individuals to practice counseling (60-hr Master's Program), offered by a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency.
No experience required.
Resident in Professional Counseling, Supervisee in Clinical Social Work, Resident in Licensed Marriage, Family Therapy, Resident in Substance Abuse Treatment, or eligibility to apply for residency.
New hires will be expected to apply for clinical supervision and residency within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge of evidenced based practices to include but not limited to; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions; family, group, and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; sex offender treatment; substance abuse interventions.
Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual's treatment and access to community resources.
Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse.
Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments.
Ability to analyze situations accurately and develop appropriate responses of techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively in order to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Ability to perform clinical interviews in order to obtain information and to formulate appropriate treatment plans.
Ability to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships.
Ability to promote positive, collaborative, and professional working relations among co-workers and representatives in the community.
Ability to record data and complete documentation within established expectations and by communicated deadlines.
Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required.
Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with correctional staff, medical providers, peer recovery specialists, case managers, probation/parole, and community treatment providers to ensure continuity of care.
Respond effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive and professional manner.
Participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training, including verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques.
Drive and possess a valid driver’s license.
Travel to any Horizon worksite, transport clients, and provide services to clients at other locations.
Attend regular trainings and Horizon meetings, which may require travel to various Horizon sites.
