About The Position

This position involves providing clinical leadership and direct treatment services to clients in a residential setting. The role requires comprehensive assessments, case conferences, treatment planning, and strategic interventions to ensure quality service delivery. The clinician will serve as a lead member of the treatment team, participating in crisis intervention, providing clinical supervision, and offering direct services. Responsibilities include interviewing clients, completing assessments, developing goal-oriented treatment plans, facilitating group sessions, coordinating services, and making referrals. The role also involves maintaining accurate clinical records, responding to client crises, assisting with program compliance, providing transportation, and participating in on-call rotations. Additionally, the clinician will attend meetings and training, meet continuing education requirements, and participate in managing program resources.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in the mental health profession.
  • One year of experience working in human services settings.
  • Current licensure from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), OR current licensure from the California Board of Psychology (BOP) as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (Licensed PhD or PsyD).
  • First Aid Certification or successful completion within 30 days of hire, if assigned to residential facilities.
  • Meet government and/or regulatory standards for continuing education credits and recertification, including a minimum of 20 hours of directly related professional training, if assigned to a residential facility.
  • Proven typing speed of 30 net wpm.
  • Computer literacy; ability to use MS Office applications—Word; Excel; Outlook—and Windows-based databases at a basic level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a small team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage a caseload; manage multiple tasks and demands on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively with others in both verbal and written English; legible handwriting.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and prioritize the problems of mentally disordered individuals, determining their needs, services, and appropriate treatment methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and support developmental growth and the recovery process.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively conduct and facilitate group rehabilitation services.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain timely, accurate and complete medical charts and client records and prepare reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to employ tact and diplomacy, exercise good judgment, and act calmly in emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work from a strengths-based, harm-reduction, social rehabilitation model.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with persons differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities and disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals identified as those with serious mental illness who meet specific criteria.

  • Knowledge of clinical techniques for assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of people with mental illness; problem resolution and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Knowledge of community resources, including those required to meet the non-mental health needs of the target population.
  • Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance.
  • A valid California Driver License, with access to a reliable vehicle/for driving a company vehicle, current proof of auto liability insurance, and a clean DMV record.
  • Physical requirements needed to perform the essential functions of this job, with or without accommodation: Hearing and talking on telephone and in person; standing, walking, sitting, pinching and finger flexion are required constantly (over 2/3 of the workday); Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, crouching, and kneeling are required occasionally (under 1/3 of the workday); Must be physically able to assist clients in the evacuation of program facilities in emergency situations.

  • Ability to work with participants who may have long-term patterns of homelessness and criminal justice involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership in comprehensive assessments, case conferences, treatment plans, and strategic interventions.
  • Serve as a lead member of the treatment team, participating in crisis intervention, clinical supervision, and direct services.
  • Provide orientation, consultation, and coordination within the work team to ensure service delivery meets client needs.
  • Provide clinical leadership, training, and guidance to staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Offer consultation and backup to support staff in responding to client crises.
  • Develop, review, evaluate, and sign documentation, including those requiring LPHA signature.
  • Provide treatment services, training, and support to clients individually and in groups.
  • Develop and improve skills related to physical and mental health care needs for clients and their families.
  • Interview clients and representatives to gather demographic and psychosocial information.
  • Complete strengths assessments and needs analyses with clients and families.
  • Develop goal-oriented, time-limited, comprehensive plans in cooperation with clients and/or their representatives.
  • Facilitate and/or lead groups through rehabilitation counseling processes.
  • Assist clients with understanding their problems and developing plans to resolve them.
  • Maintain regular communication with families and authorized third parties involved in the rehabilitation process.
  • Coordinate needed services for clients, their families, and others significant to service plans.
  • Make referrals to other public and private social services and community agencies.
  • Develop recommendations for discharge and follow-up treatment planning.
  • Complete comprehensive reassessments prior to expiration of current treatment plans.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete clinical records and other required documentation.
  • Produce clear, accurate reports in accordance with agency, payor, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide assessment and intervention in response to client crisis, including follow-up and consultation.
  • Provide coverage in emergency situations.
  • Assist Program Manager in maintaining compliance with CARF, contract, Agency, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide transportation in personal or agency vehicle for agency business.
  • Provide on-call coverage and participate in after-hours rotation.
  • Perform First Aid in emergency situations, if assigned to residential facilities.
  • Attend and participate in staff, program, agency, and community meetings and training.
  • Meet continuing education requirements for regulatory, accreditation, and Agency needs.
  • Participate in the management of team/program discretionary resources.
