Emory Healthcare is seeking a full-time, 36-hour per week Clinician Charge, Post-Surgical inpatient RN. This role involves being a capable clinician with broad experience in patient care and a sound understanding of a particular patient population. The RN will routinely use acquired knowledge, theory, research, and experience to respond to changes in clinical situations. This professional will apply the Synergy Model for Care in practice, personalizing care for each patient/family, and serving as a resource to colleagues and an advocate for them. The role includes planning, coordinating, and directing daily operations of a specific shift on a clinical unit, supervising staff, and facilitating communication with physicians and administrators for optimal patient and family-centered care. The Clinician Charge is recognized as a change agent, leading efforts to strengthen organizational systems and demonstrating creative problem-solving, conflict negotiation, and collaboration. They will role-model expert communication skills, demonstrate foresight regarding the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes, and be recognized as an expert clinician and leader in their specialty. Responsibilities include completing reports, evaluating operational forms, providing and coordinating unit resources, role-modeling time management, ensuring policy compliance, staying informed of clinical trends, functioning as charge nurse, and mentoring other RNs in delegation and the Charge Nurse role. They will lead and coordinate team behavior, foster leadership skills in others, and provide direction to less experienced staff. The role also involves completing performance reviews with Nurse Manager input, incorporating the Synergy model for care in assignments, evaluating resource use and cost containment, coordinating unit staffing, initiating tests of change, participating in regulatory agency reviews, assisting with budget planning, and supporting administrative decisions. The Clinician Charge will ensure compliance with educational requirements, exhibit effective communication, take a leadership role in fostering open communication, serve as an arbitrator in staff conflicts, counsel employees, support colleagues' needs, empower and advocate for nurses, address customer concerns, handle escalated patient issues, monitor issues and their resolution, and challenge/shape systems for optimal outcomes. They will implement innovative approaches, identify and respond to staff needs, and initiate/collaborate on educational programs, including developing management/leadership focused in-service training. The role requires demonstrating current evidence-based practice and questioning management practices related to research.
