About The Position

The Clinical Workflow Analyst - Level IV holds overall responsibility for installing, managing, and optimizing medical computer systems supporting clinical workflow. This position leads workflow analysis for application development, ensures rigorous quality controls, manages the MHS GENESIS ticket lifecycle, and serves as site lead and subject matter expert on clinical workflow and systems optimization. This role supports the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Geographic Service Providers (GSP) at Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center in Fort Belvoir, VA.

Requirements

  • Master's degree and/or equivalent years of experience.
  • Eight (8) years of progressive demonstrating experience applying formal process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Business Process Reengineering, or as approved by the Government Task Manager) in a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to hold overall responsibility for installing, managing, and optimizing medical computer systems supporting clinical workspace workflow.
  • Experience leading workflow analysis for large-scale application development and process reengineering projects.
  • Experience establishing and enforcing quality controls between software application data, security controls, and environmental infrastructure.
  • Ability to serve as a subject matter expert on clinical workflow and systems optimization.
  • Professional Certification: Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
  • Professional Certification: Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management Systems (CPHIMS), or Veterans Affairs Health Informatics Certificate Program (American Medical Informatics Association 10x10 or commercial equivalent).
  • Tier 3 (T3) Background Investigation required; must obtain and maintain favorable suitability adjudication prior to and throughout performance of duties.
  • This role requires customer approval, suitability to hold a public trust and successful completion of a preemployment background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete lifecycle of MHS GENESIS incident and change request tickets using the DHA ticketing system, ensuring adherence to all established protocols and performance standards.
  • Conduct quality control for local tickets, provide guidance on reporting, and escalate complex issues as directed.
  • Participate in major incident bridge calls and brief Clinical Informatics leadership on resolution status.
  • Leverage understanding of MHS GENESIS workflows to analyze, investigate, and recommend solutions that optimize clinical business workflows within MHS GENESIS (e.g., "As-Is" analysis of existing workflows and design of optimized "To-Be" workflows).
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the DHA standard workflow library to advise stakeholders on complex processes, workflow issues, and compliance regulations.
  • Analyze and disseminate critical information affecting MHS GENESIS, clinical workflows, and end-users using Oracle Health Cerner data analytic platforms (e.g., Cerner Advance, Cerner Lights On Network, Discern Analytics, and HealtheAnalytics).
  • Act as a key liaison between the MHS Service Desk, Defense Health Network (DHN) Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO), MTF teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on MHS GENESIS initiatives.
  • Manage and coordinate local or regional Clinical Informatics programs and deliverables, such as Peer Expert programs, End User Optimization programs, and DHA-issued initiatives.
  • Facilitate all Information Steering Committee (ISC) meetings, including preparing agendas, documenting minutes, and managing logistics.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on data related to MHS GENESIS performance and its impact on clinical users.
  • Monitor metrics for incident resolution, change management, and workflow efficiency, and provide data-driven insights and recommendations to improve clinical processes and patient care outcomes.
  • Provide strategic oversight for the installation and management of all medical computer systems supporting clinical workspace workflow.
  • Direct workflow analysis for large-scale application development and process reengineering projects.
  • Establish and enforce quality controls between software application data, security controls, and the environmental infrastructure.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on clinical workflow and systems optimization.
