Job Summary Working in concert with the pharmacy team, under the general direction of the Manager and Assistant Director, the CTP Technician follows established policies and procedures to perform activities integral to the operation of the pharmacy department at Mass General Hospital. Activities include and are not restricted to handling of investigational medications, entering orders for drug dispense, answering phones, attending staff meetings, providing support to the pharmacists, checking expiration dates on medications, non-sterile compounding, sterile compounding, temperature monitoring, training, inventory management and assisting in other areas as needed. Technicians must be able to pass both licensure and area specific competences. The Pharmacy Technician may rotate throughout the various assigned areas.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Pharmacy Technician [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • 1-2 years of previous hospital-related experience, formal training, or certification from a pharmacy technician training program is desired
  • Perform intermediate mathematical calculations associated with preparing non-sterile, extemporaneously manufactured pharmaceutical products and other medication doses.
  • Follow all applicable state and federal controlled substance regulations.
  • Continuously improve skills necessary for area-specific technology, including, but not limited to, robotics, automation, software, equipment, and information systems.
  • Read, interpret, and follow complex verbal and written instructions to prepare medications accurately in a sterile environment.
