The Clinical Trials Pharmacy (CTP) Pharmacist works in conjunction with the CTP team to dispense research medication to subjects enrolled in clinical trials. This role ensures medication orders comply with approved protocols, reviews protocol documents, and drafts dispense instructions. The pharmacist also oversees the safe handling and preparation of investigational sterile and non-sterile medications, supervises technician activities, and performs quality control checks. Additionally, they provide drug information to other healthcare professionals, triage and participate in sponsor monitoring visits and audits, and review new protocols and amendments for drug safety and feasibility. The role promotes a culture of safety, adheres to departmental practices and policies, and acts as a liaison between CTP and compounding, as well as other areas within the department of pharmacy. The pharmacist also reviews patient medications for appropriateness and drug interactions and complies with state and federal laws pertinent to pharmacy and investigational drug use.
