About The Position

Jericho Project is seeking a qualified clinician (LCSW or similar) to provide ongoing counseling for Jericho’s newest program, Melrose. The qualified applicant will work in conjunction with other Jericho support staff to serve participants who are formerly homeless. The Melrose, a 78-unit Permanent Supportive Housing Program, serves formerly housing unstable clients who are across the life course, from families and children, young adults, to elderly. Candidates must have experience serving a wide range of individuals with mental illnesses, trauma and substance abuse histories; experience with the homelessness and housing unstable populations is preferred. The candidate should provide services with an awareness of, sensitivity to, and respect for diversity of culture, ethnicity, gender identity, physical and mental abilities, sexual attraction, race, and spirituality or religion. Potential candidates should have experience in evidence-based psychotherapy modalities.

Requirements

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or similar (LMHC, LMFT, etc).
  • Candidate must have at least three years’ experience working with victims of trauma for populations such as people with substance abuse disorders, those with psychiatric illness or those who have experienced homelessness.
  • Experience with a broad range of populations required.
  • Ability to manage caseload of 25-30 across programs.
  • Candidate must possess superior written and verbal skills.
  • Candidate must be well-organized and possess multitasking skills.
  • Training in evidence-based practices: The successful candidate will have experience providing evidence-based treatments (CBT, DBT, Motivational interviewing, etc.) to a wide range of diagnoses.
  • Therapist is regularly required to, type, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arm. The Therapist is regularly required to walk, ascend and descend stairs, stoop, and kneel. The Therapist is often required to spend up to six (6) hours sitting at a desk during a normal eight (8) hour shift. Occasionally the Therapist is required to lift items less than 5 pounds. The Therapist is regularly required to move throughout the facility/NYC while carrying out job duties.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel to various sites.
  • One must possess the ability to speak, hear, see, and write as well as the ability to use a computer and related software programs.
  • Local and/or national travel required and may require some longer weekday/weekend commitments to accomplish related business projects or meet deliverables.

  • Experience with the homelessness and housing unstable populations is preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Complete clinical assessments, biopsychosocial, treatment plans, progress notes, psychiatric evals etc. as required ensuring all charting documentation are up to date at all times.
  • Provide diverse range of counseling and interventions depending on the needs of the participants.
  • Facilitate groups, as needed.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary approach and collaborating with colleagues on the comprehensive treatment of participants.
  • Provide on the spot assistance with client issues that may present in therapy sessions (eg: case management assistance in the moment vs referring them back to the case manager at a later date.)
  • Flexibility in scheduling around client needs and locations (telehealth, in office meeting, community outreach, etc.).
  • Identify resources in the community for participants and create/maintain linkages with psychiatric providers.
  • Provide in-services/trainings to staff members as appropriate to the needs of the program/agency
  • Participate in weekly supervision, case conferences, staff meetings, and training as assigned.
  • Promote Jericho Project on social media sites.
  • Conduct community outreach as assigned to promote Jericho Project programs.
  • Carry out duties as assigned by leadership.
