The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus are designed to treat high acuity patients who need critical care and suffer from various medical problems. The G60/61 units include 25 patient beds. Some of the most common procedures performed by our nursing staff include bronchoscopy, endoscopy, emergent intubations, and central line placements. Our dedicated and highly trained nursing caregivers follow an intricate nursing care model that is rooted in evidence-based practice and always puts patients first. As Clinical Technician, you will play a direct role in our mission to continuously provide patients with the best healthcare experience possible. A caregiver in this position works nights 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period
  • One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing School Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training (e.g., mental health)
  • Competencies in both the professional, technical and clinical knowledge domains must be demonstrated in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an 8th grade level

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as checking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheters.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
