About The Position

The Clinical Team Leader provides direct patient care as the charge nurse and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment. The role provides front-line leadership and decision-making for departmental staff, supports quality care, and oversees day-to-day unit operations during the designated shift. The position is for the Med Surg unit and is scheduled for three 12-hour day shifts per week.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Complete charge nurse training and competencies; external hires must complete them within 90 days of hire.
• Current RN license in Texas or a compact license.
• Clinical course certifications consistent with RN requirements for the specific clinical area, such as Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardio Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and NRP.
• Advanced specialty certification, or agreement to obtain one within two years; examples include CCRN, CEN, and RNC.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line leadership and decision-making for departmental staff, ensuring the quality and integrity of care delivered.
• Develop unit staffing plans based on patient acuity and care needs, and oversee day-to-day operations on the designated shift.
• Monitor workflow and adjust staffing to support the unit’s fiscal goals.
• Coordinate and facilitate efficient patient flow, including timely admission to and discharge from the unit.
• Assist the manager in achieving and sustaining department and organizational objectives, including patient experience, length of stay, and unit- or patient-specific quality measures.
• Participate in department-specific initiatives and process-improvement projects.
• Participate in peer interviews and provide feedback for employee evaluations as requested by the manager.
• Assist with occurrence investigations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
