About The Position

The University of Portland, located in Portland, Oregon, USA, is seeking a faculty member for the position of Clinical Teaching Associate (CTA) within the Center for Clinical Excellence and Simulated Health Center of the School of Nursing & Health Innovations. This role is ideal for forward-thinking and creative faculty with expertise in clinical teaching, psychomotor skills, nursing education, simulation, informatics, and/or clinical technology. The School of Nursing & Health Innovations (SONHI) fosters an environment of rich student mentoring and values a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives. The undergraduate and doctoral programs emphasize the interconnectedness of individual social needs, clinical care, and community conditions. Successful candidates will demonstrate high enthusiasm and engagement in innovative and inclusive pedagogy, with a focus on cultivating human learning capacity and addressing social determinants of health. The SONHI utilizes state-of-the-art simulation in ambulatory, acute, and telemedicine facilities. The University of Portland is a primarily undergraduate institution with four professional schools and a College of Arts and Sciences, featuring a strong liberal arts Core Curriculum that promotes engagement with the Six Core Habits of Heart and Mind. This CTA position will support the Center for Clinical Excellence by developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to enhance clinical education quality and satisfaction, including site visits. Responsibilities include interfacing with clinical partners to identify suitable sites and preceptors for clinical nursing courses, teaching clinical courses, and recruiting, hiring, and orienting new clinical adjunct faculty.
