About The Position

The Clinical Support Specialist (CSS) is a clerical position that operates as part of the clinic. The CSS is responsible for maintaining information in the clients’ charts. The CSS accurately enters data in the internal Electronic Health Record (EHR) and County billing system admitting, discharging and periodic assessments of clients per Penny Lane and DMH guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, data entry relating to client information, episodes, enrollments, diagnoses, and client contact information. The CSS verifies that client information in the County billing system has been updated to include the most up to date information in the EHR. The Clinical Support Specialist also researches any claims that have potential billing issues. Other clerical and reception related duties that may be assigned include, but are not limited to, filing, copying, faxing, answering phone calls, generating and collecting data reports and providing language interpretation services. The Clinical Support Specialist is detail oriented and a team player who is eager to learn new tasks and provide the clinic staff and clients with great customer service. This position requires a willingness to be cross trained and work in a team environment to complete whatever task is at hand. The staff in this position must have a good attitude, complete tasks timely and communicate well with their supervisor, colleagues, and clients.

Requirements

  • Less than a college degree or GED.
  • One to three months of related clerical/medical billing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid California driver’s license.
  • Current automobile insurance.
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company.
  • Must have immediate access to his or her vehicle during work hours.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining information in clients' charts.
  • Accurately entering data in the internal Electronic Health Record (EHR) and County billing system for client admissions, discharges, and periodic assessments per Penny Lane and DMH guidelines.
  • Entering data relating to client information, episodes, enrollments, diagnoses, and client contact information.
  • Verifying that client information in the County billing system is updated with the most current information from the EHR.
  • Researching claims with potential billing issues.
  • Performing other clerical and reception-related duties such as filing, copying, faxing, answering phone calls, generating and collecting data reports, and providing language interpretation services.
