About The Position

As a Clinical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality behavioral health care by managing key non-clinical and pre-clinical responsibilities. This position enables Mental Health Therapists to focus on direct patient care while supporting therapist utilization goals, patient safety, documentation compliance, care continuity, and overall clinical operations. Clinical Support Specialists work closely with Mental Health Therapists, interdisciplinary care teams, and clinical supervisors to coordinate scheduling, facilitate patient engagement, support documentation workflows, and triage safety or clinical concerns. Through these efforts, you will help ensure efficient operations, seamless care coordination, and a positive patient experience across the continuum of care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) or a related field from an accredited institution required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in behavioral health, care coordination, case management, patient support, or a related healthcare setting
  • Working knowledge of behavioral health conditions, patient engagement best practices, professional boundaries, and clinical escalation procedures
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented when managing sensitive patient situations or escalating safety concerns
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively and empathetically with patients and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHRs), telehealth platforms, and other healthcare technology tools
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain accountability in a remote work environment

Responsibilities

  • Support therapists by coordinating scheduling, appointment management, and patient outreach to maximize access to care and continuity of treatment
  • Conduct outreach to re-engage inactive patients and assist with follow-up appointment scheduling
  • Monitor and triage incoming patient communications, escalating clinical or safety concerns to licensed staff in accordance with established protocols
  • Assist with safety-related documentation and care coordination to support timely, appropriate patient care
  • Prepare, track, and manage clinical and administrative documentation, including release forms, disability/FMLA paperwork, and other patient-related records
  • Coordinate referrals to internal clinical services and monitor progress to ensure seamless patient transitions
  • Support post-hospitalization follow-up scheduling and other initiatives that promote quality outcomes and continuity of care
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, therapists, clinical leaders, and operational teams to facilitate effective communication and problem resolution
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and confidentiality requirements
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to support high-quality patient care and operational excellence
