About The Position

To provide supervision of assessments, case management, counseling, and educational services to American Behavioral Health Systems’ counselors.

Requirements

  • Must have a BA degree in Psychology, Social Work, or an AA degree and equivalent experience.
  • Meet the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) requirements for a qualified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CDP) as per Chapter 18.205 RCW and WAC 246-111.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to use computer keyboard and view monitor for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use hands to fingers.

  • Pursuing continuing education and certification in Choice Theory/Reality Therapy training.

Responsibilities

  • To supervise the maintenance of all clinical caseloads.
  • To oversee clinical staff and act as a mentor for practicum students.
  • To supervise clinical interns, if needed.
  • To supervise the provision of educational presentations related to chemical dependency, behavioral health, and behavioral restructuring.
  • To supervise and assist in the counselors’ development of maintaining a community service network for outreach and case management.
  • To supervise the facilitation and structuring of group therapy and individual counseling sessions, as per program model.
  • To supervise the administration of intakes, assessments, and treatment and discharge planning.
  • To supervise the monitoring and facilitation of client behavioral/cognitive restructuring.
  • To coordinate clinical activities with treatment team and other staff.
  • To be responsible for the counselor maintenance, security and completeness of all clinical files, to include all WAC requirements, securing appropriate background information from other agencies and institutions, filing case management materials as it is received, recording interview summaries and activities of the client, and all other pertinent information.
  • To review a sample of the patient records of each CDPT and CDP at least quarterly.
  • To assure the implementation of treatment, continuing care, transfer and discharge plans in accord with WAC 388-805-315.
  • To assure documentation of each client’s progress in all areas of treatment, a minimum of once per week per client.
  • To assure all treatment files of clients in all caseloads are current, complete, and in acceptable order according to agency standards and WAC requirements; keep all records confidential and secure.
  • To supervise the collection of statistical data and other information as required by DASA and American Behavioral Health Systems, Inc.
  • To supervise and facilitate all clinical staffing and provide formal clinical presentation as needed.
  • To assist in the development and modification of policies and procedures and/or forms as needed.
  • To supervise and monitor the activities of all counselors pertaining to their caseloads, client files, and treatment planning.
  • To be available to assist all counselors in treatment planning when necessary and for staffing difficult clients of problematic situations.
  • Have a working knowledge of all relevant WACs, inpatient provider contracts, provider agreements, and inpatient policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining current continuing education and state licensing/registration requirements as per Chapter 18.205 RCW and WAC 246-12-170 and for pursing continuing education and certification in Choice Theory/Reality Therapy training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Responds to the directives of the supervisor and management staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Assures that all ABHS’ clients’ needs are met with dignity and respect and in a timely manner.
  • Makes decisions based on the welfare of the client, the success of the team, and the quality and integrity of the program.
  • Understands and facilitates federal confidentiality laws, 42 CFR, and protects client confidentiality/anonymity, and assures no information is shared without proper authorization.
  • Ensures compliance to contractual obligations, ABHS policies, and State statues (WACs).
  • Ensures that staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
