About The Position

Aery Aviation is looking for a Clinical Supervisor to support the startup of its own Medical Authority. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for the right candidate! The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the medical department and reports to the Medical Director. The position will start out as a Contract/Per Diem role but will possibly become full-time as the operation grows.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio with an unrestricted license in good standing, or licensed as a Paramedic with a current and valid Ohio certificate to practice under ORC Chapter 4765; multi-state licensure strongly preferred given interstate transport operations
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in an ICU, emergency department, or critical care transport setting (preferred)
  • If RN: CFRN (Certified Flight Registered Nurse) required within 2 years of hire, If Paramedic: FP-C (Flight Paramedic Certification) or CCP-C (Critical Care Paramedic Certification) required within 2 years of hire per CAMTS 12th Edition Standard; FP-C preferred
  • Current BLS and ACLS provider certification required; PALS required or must be obtained within [90] days of hire
  • Trauma course certification (ITLS or PHTLS) preferred; specific requirement to be determined by the Medical Director
  • Familiarity with CAMTS accreditation standards and Part 135 fixed-wing operations preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Ohio EMS regulations under OAC Chapter 4765 and ORC Chapter 4766

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the day-to-day clinical operations lead for Aery Aviation, functioning in the combined capacity of Clinical Supervisor, Chief Flight Nurse/Chief Flight Paramedic, and Clinical Program Manager
  • Works under the clinical authority of the Medical Director and reports administratively to [CEO/COO/insert title], with a dotted-line to flight operations for transport logistics coordination
  • Ensures all transport personnel maintain licensure, certification, and clinical competency consistent with their scope of practice and applicable Ohio regulations under ORC Chapter 4766 and OAC Chapter 4765
  • Maintains and enforces clinical standards across all transport operations, including pre-flight medical report, patient assessment criteria, clinical interventions, and documentation requirements
  • Serves as the primary clinical point of contact for external stakeholders including sending facilities, receiving facilities, referral partners, and insurance or assistance companies
  • Participates in the recruitment, screening, and hiring of all clinical transport personnel in coordination with the Medical Director
  • Maintains credentialing files for all clinical staff, including verification of current licensure, certification, and continuing education documentation
  • Conducts or coordinates initial clinical orientation and onboarding for all new transport personnel
  • Develops and maintains a competency verification program for all clinical staff, with documented skills evaluation completed at hire and on an annual basis thereafter
  • Develops, implements, and maintains the clinical education calendar, ensuring transport personnel meet initial and continuing education requirements consistent with CAMTS standards and applicable Ohio regulations
  • Coordinates simulation, skills lab, and case review activities as applicable to the program's scope of care and transport volume
  • Identifies and addresses individual and team-wide clinical education gaps through QA/QI data, case review, direct observation, and feedback from the Medical Director
  • Maintains personal clinical currency through active participation in patient transports and ongoing continuing education relevant to critical care and transport medicine
  • Owns the day-to-day QA/QI program for the clinical department; overall QA/QI authority and final clinical sign-off rests with the Medical Director
  • Conducts case-by-case review of transport records for clinical documentation completeness, protocol adherence, scope of practice compliance, and appropriateness of care
  • Tracks and trends clinical performance data, adverse events, near-misses, and patient outcomes; presents findings to the Medical Director on a defined cadence, minimum quarterly
  • Assists the Medical Director in the development, periodic review, and revision of offline clinical protocols; flags protocol gaps or deviations identified through case review
  • Participates in adverse event, mortality and morbidity, and sentinel event review; ensures corrective actions are documented and tracked to resolution
  • Maintains active flight status and participates in patient transports as a clinical crew member, consistent with company staffing needs and transport volume
  • Functions as clinical lead during complex or high-acuity transports and serves as a resource to less experienced crew members
  • Adheres to all FAA Part 135 operational requirements and Aery flight safety policies while functioning in a crew member capacity; defers to pilot-in-command authority on all matters of flight safety
  • Maintains medical equipment and supply inventory oversight, including restocking protocols, expiration tracking, and equipment serviceability
  • Assists with clinical staff scheduling as needed to ensure adequate coverage for transport volume
  • Supports regulatory compliance activities including Ohio State Board of EMS reporting obligations and any future accreditation preparation activities
  • Maintains documentation of all Clinical Supervisory activities — including training records, competency evaluations, QA/QI findings, and corrective actions — in a manner consistent with applicable record retention requirements and accreditation readiness
