About The Position

Montclair Hospital Medical Center is a 106-bed acute care, not-for-profit community hospital recognized for its quality and community focus. The Clinical Supervisor supports administrative responsibility for department service functions, working collaboratively with the unit Director and/or Manager. In their absence, the Clinical Supervisor may assume administrative scope. They develop and implement departmental plans, including performance improvement and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include overseeing personnel orientation and training, communicating effectively with staff, physicians, and administration, and ensuring the quality of staff and functions during their shift. The role also involves assisting the Department Director in daily operations, directing and evaluating personnel, and ensuring efficient department functions. Direct patient care is performed as needed within the scope of practice, with continuous assessment of care and direction to staff for immediate changes in the plan of care.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License
  • Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) 30 days upon of hire and maintain current.
  • Effective January 2025, Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • PALS within 30 days of hire for units that admit pediatric patients.

Nice To Haves

  • RN-C within 2 years of hire preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports administrative responsibility for the department service functions.
  • Works collaboratively with the unit Director and/or Manager.
  • May assume the administrative scope of the unit assigned in the absence of the unit Director and/or Manager.
  • Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current federal and/or state regulations.
  • Prepares, conducts and/or oversees department(s) orientation and training of personnel.
  • Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration both written and verbally.
  • Is responsible and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift.
  • Assists the Department Director in the daily operations of the unit, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel, ensuring the proper use of time, equipment, and staff.
  • Ensures the efficient functions of the department.
  • Performs direct patient care, only as needed, within the scope of practice.
  • Continually assesses care and directs staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care.
