About The Position

The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the delivery of clinical services and providing supervision, guidance, and support to clinical staff within the assigned program. This role also partners with program leadership in program development, quality improvement initiatives, compliance monitoring, and quality assurance activities to support effective service delivery and positive client outcomes. As a master’s level clinician, the Clinical Supervisor serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and provides direct clinical services, including individual, family, and group therapy, counseling, case coordination, and therapeutic education services appropriate to the assigned program. The Clinical Supervisor is expected to model clinical excellence, professionalism, and compassionate, person-centered care in alignment with the organization’s mission and core values. In collaboration with the Program Director, the Clinical Supervisor may assist with staff training, onboarding, mentorship, and clinical supervision to support staff development and program effectiveness. Assigned clinical programs may include, but are not limited to, outpatient behavioral health clinics, school-based services, crisis services, substance use disorder services, and rehabilitative treatment programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required.
  • Current New York State licensure as an LMHC, LMSW, or LCSW required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health treatment modalities, psychiatric disorders, clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, including signs and symptoms of alcohol and drug misuse, intervention strategies, co-occurring disorders, and associated medical and behavioral health concerns.
  • Strong clinical skills in individual, family, and group therapy, crisis intervention, and care coordination.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive clinical interviews, assess mental status, evaluate risk, and develop effective treatment interventions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and meet productivity expectations in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and build effective working relationships across programs, departments, and community partners.
  • Valid New York State driver’s license and reliable transportation required for local and regional travel, as applicable to assigned program needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing direct clinical services to the population served by the assigned program strongly preferred.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR), Microsoft Office applications, and other clinical documentation systems strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides weekly clinical supervision to assigned staff and maintains accurate supervision documentation and logs.
  • Completes and delivers performance evaluations for assigned team members in accordance with organizational timelines and standards.
  • Provides ongoing training, mentorship, clinical guidance, and support to program staff and assists with onboarding and development of new employees.
  • Reviews psychotherapy notes, treatment plans, and other clinical documentation to ensure quality, compliance, and adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Completes collaborative documentation and clinical records in accordance with federal and state regulations, oversight agency requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participates in staff meetings, interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, care coordination meetings, and continuing education activities as required.
  • Serves as a site supervisor for master’s-level interns and supports internship training and development activities.
  • Provides direct clinical services, including individual, family, and group therapy, crisis intervention, assessment, counseling, and therapeutic education services designed to support recovery and maximize clinical outcomes.
  • Conducts initial evaluations and assessments to identify clinical needs, impairments, risks, and treatment priorities for effective care planning and intervention.
  • Develops individualized treatment plans and treatment strategies based on the specific needs of each individual served and collaborates with the treatment team and service recipient throughout the treatment process.
  • Coordinates care and treatment with behavioral health providers, primary care providers, probation, parole, community agencies, and other support systems to promote continuity and effectiveness of care, including facilitating referrals for inpatient or higher levels of care when appropriate.
  • Provides crisis assessment and intervention services, as assigned, to support stabilization and reduce unnecessary emergency room visits and inpatient admissions.
  • Documents all aspects of assessment, treatment, care coordination, and service delivery accurately and timely to support patient care, interdisciplinary communication, reimbursement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Participates in quality assurance, quality improvement, utilization review, and program development activities to support effective service delivery and program outcomes.
  • Promotes collaboration, teamwork, professionalism, and effective communication among interdisciplinary team members and community partners.
  • Maintains confidentiality of protected health information and complies with all HIPAA, organizational, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports the growth, independence, recovery, and overall well-being of individuals receiving services.
  • Meets or exceeds established productivity and billable service expectations applicable to the role and assigned program.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
