About The Position

This role supervises clinical staff in the LOC Med Specialties clinic, LOC Gen Med Clinic, and Centralized Med Specialty Nurse Triage. The Clinical Supervisor provides day-to-day clinical and operational leadership for ambulatory staff during assigned shifts. They establish caring, therapeutic relationships with patients and families through effective communication, shared decision-making, and mutual goal setting. Collaboration with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and clinic leadership is key to meeting patient and family needs. The role involves leading and participating in daily safety and capacity huddles, overseeing staffing, scheduling, and labor utilization to align with patient volume, acuity, and productivity targets. The supervisor supports clinic goals, change initiatives, and nursing shared governance activities. Key responsibilities include supervising staff through hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action. They create and manage staffing schedules, provide education and guidance to staff and students, and participate in quality improvement initiatives, research activities, and the development of evidence-based care protocols. Monitoring patient safety, recognizing changes in patient status, and ensuring timely interventions are crucial. The supervisor also supports clinic management with productivity, staffing, and budgetary goals while ensuring safe patient care, assists with conflict resolution, and fosters a positive, collaborative team environment. Maintaining accountability for personal professional practice and progress toward annual goals is also required, along with performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to lead, coach, and teach staff effectively.
Ability to manage complex situations and interact effectively in challenging environments.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and ability to review clinical documentation and reports accurately.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
At least three (3) years of RN experience in an ambulatory care setting.
National nursing certification.
