About The Position

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is seeking a Clinical Staff Pharmacist to provide quality pharmaceutical care and dispense medications in accordance with the latest pharmacy standard practices. The role involves reviewing prescriptions for appropriateness, ensuring patient safety, and communicating with healthcare professionals and patients. This position also includes directing technical staff and participating in performance enhancement initiatives within a nationally recognized, forward-thinking health network known for its commitment to teamwork, compassion, and technology.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Pharmacy or Bachelor’s Degree Pharmacy
  • Ability to accurately dispense and monitor medications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to make independent judgments under stressful situations at times.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and accreditation standards related to the distribution and control of scheduled and non-scheduled drugs and pharmacy security.
  • RP - Registered Pharmacist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years relevant pharmacist experience or 1 year PGY1 pharmacy residency
  • Familiarity with common pharmacy technologies, both software and hardware.
  • BCPS - Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist - Board of Pharmacy Specialties Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and dispenses medications for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Evaluates evidence-based literature to offer appropriate clinical recommendations to optimize drug selection and individualization of therapy.
  • Ensures and executes policies and procedures that ensure appropriate, cost-effective, and safe medication use.
  • Performs clinical medication surveillance, documents interventions, and reports adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
  • Coordinates the activities of pharmacy technicians engaged in the preparation, labeling, and delivery of medications and other pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Counsels and provides drug information pertaining to medications, drug usage, and compatibility to physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and patients in accordance with OBRA or other regulatory standards.
  • Weighs, measures, and prepares sterile and non-sterile medication products utilizing appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Acts as a resource or consultant to other healthcare professionals regarding appropriateness, availability, cost, and/or alternativeness to therapies.
