About The Position

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is dedicated to advancing cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through groundbreaking research and exceptional patient care. Our Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is committed to providing the highest quality clinical pharmaceutical care to children, integrating research findings into clinical practice as swiftly as possible. Oversees drug distribution, evaluates and monitors physician orders, provides drug information, and educates patients. Manages inventory, assists with quality improvement, and supervises pharmacy technicians. Clinical Staff Pharmacist II - Weekday Evenings Job Responsibilities: Independently conduct drug distribution and control activities for the assigned pharmacy area. Perform appropriate dose checking and medication profile review upon receipt of any medication request from a clinician as outlined by department practice standards. Interpret/understand and address detailed requirements of drug therapy protocols. Maintain appropriate and accurate dispensing records including computer medication profiles, investigational drugs, and controlled substances. Provide accurate drug information as necessary and upon request based upon an assessment of individual orders and patient conditions. Communicate effectively with colleagues and patients to foster quality service and care and address issues if any. Perform patient education and counseling in a manner consistent with defined department guidelines. Contribute to departmental ongoing departmental and institutional research programs, improvement efforts, drug/device/technology review, and utilization evaluation programs as assigned. Document significant protocol deviations and variances and all other significant interventions in the provision of patient care. Provide guidance and direction to pharmacy technicians. Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Consistently meet job expectations, adhere to policies, and deliver quality work while applying. St. Jude values and principles. Requirements

  • Graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmacy Education.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Hospital pharmacy practice experience preferred.
  • Experience overseeing compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
  • Significant experience working with comparable software systems and databases for maintenance/ review of documentation/ records.
  • Experience proposing/ implementing process improvements within own area.
  • Experience in guiding pharmacy staff.
  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.
  • Licensure by the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospital pharmacy practice experience preferred.
