About The Position

This is a full-time position in the MVHN INFUSION CNTR PHARM department at Miami Valley Hospital South. The role involves assisting a pharmacist in various tasks related to medication preparation, dispensing, and inventory management. Certified pharmacy technicians will engage in activities such as data entry, label preparation, stocking and retrieving drugs, compounding (non-sterile and sterile after training), and maintaining pharmacy equipment and inventory levels.

Requirements

Certified Pharmacy Technician through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
Registration with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a “Certified Pharmacy Technician” or eligible for registration within 45 days of hire.
No prior job-related work experience required
Possess good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and problem solving skills
Able to read and write printed material in English
Proficiency with computer keyboard operations
Ability to compute simple algebraic ratios, volume/volume percentage and weight/volume percentage
Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy.
Must be familiar with pharmacy software
Possess ability to work well with other health care workers and perform as team member

Nice To Haves

Completion of an ASHP/ACPE-accredited technician education and training program
Prior hospital, long-term care or retail experience preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Flexibility in scheduling essential as mentor/trainer of new coworkers

Responsibilities

Prepare medication doses prior to a pharmacist’s review & dispensing
Perform non-sterile and sterile medication compounding after required training
Restock medications in automated dispensing cabinets
Delivery of medications to patient care areas
Monitor drug inventory levels to ensure a continuous supply of medications without stockpiling supplies
Troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy
Must be familiar with pharmacy software
Must use aseptic technique, wear appropriate attire, and follow standards in aseptic compounding
Must maintain clean and safe working environment
Other duties as assigned
