About The Position

The Clinical Staff Pharmacist Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the drug therapy process on a specified medical service or patient care area on a daily basis. The clinical staff coordinator is responsible for drug selection, drug information, dosing, monitoring, outcomes management and patient interviews, education and counseling. The Clinical Staff Pharmacist Coordinator supports the operations of the pharmacy department and may assist in the distribution of medications and the supervision of pharmacy technicians in distributive functions and departmental operations under the direction of the pharmacy manager. The operations of the pharmacy department include: Interprets and evaluates physician orders in order to prepare and dispense appropriate medications to patients at Holy Cross Health. Manages drug therapy of patients. Reviews, accesses and maintains patient medication records and profiles for allergies, drug interactions and therapeutic duplication to provide a consistent quality of patient care and appropriate drug therapy. Provides information to physicians, nurses, and patients. Assists in the supervision of pharmacy technicians in distributive functions and departmental operations under the direction of the pharmacy manager. Performance demonstrates efforts to improve patient satisfaction, lower costs and improve quality. Accountable for directing the activities of pharmacy technicians related to patient care and departmental and professional standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Able to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff in order to meet departmental objectives.
  • Must be able to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.
