About The Position

The IV Room Clinical Pharmacist functions as a centralized clinical pharmacist with a focus on IV room production, workflow, and regulatory requirements. The primary responsibility for this position is direct oversight of IV room processes and personnel to maintain the highest levels of quality, accuracy, cleanliness, and productivity. Activities include daily production management, product verification, technician oversight, policy and procedure development, annual competency building and facilitation, and maintaining regulatory requirements as pertains to all compounding areas, sterile and non-sterile.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Doctorate in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy
  • Texas pharmacist license

Nice To Haves

  • IV Certification preferred
  • 1-3 years of hospital pharmacy practice experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties of a central pharmacist
  • Works closely with all hospital personnel to assure safe and efficient delivery of patient care
  • Leads and maintains accountabilities for all IV room processes, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Leads Pharmacy IV room meeting, setting agendas with close communication with pharmacy management
  • Coordinates annual/semi-annual Aseptic Technique and IV Room process validations
  • Monitors and coordinates all IV room certification and validation requirements (monthly viable sampling & 6-month recertifications)
  • Serves as an authoritative resource on pertinent USP chapters and all compounding requirements, processes, and procedures
  • Coordinates all IV sterile preparation and non-sterile compounding training
  • Develops and provides annual education and competencies for all sterile and non-sterile compounding settings
  • Receive and/or maintain a Texas preceptor license
  • Serves as a preceptor for Pharmacy Residents and Students
  • Leads and coordinates quality improvement and integrates best practices into all sterile and non-sterile compounding processes and procedures
  • Coordinates and supports EPIC builds and updates as pertains to sterile and non-sterile compounding processes
  • Maintains and updates all compounding recipes within CNR
  • Serves as an Administrator/Superuser for the BAXA pump and Abacus software
  • Remains current on all IV room and non-sterile compounding best practices and regulatory requirements through on-going professional development
