This role is located at Seton Medical Center Austin in the Inpatient Pharmacy department and is a full-time position with a rotating schedule. The Clinical Specialty Pharmacist will ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes by accurately selecting, dosing, and dispensing complex medication orders in specialized areas like oncology and cardiology, provide expert clinical consultation, review and resolve potential drug-related problems, guide and oversee technical pharmacy personnel, and educate medical staff and patients on proper medication usage.

Requirements

  • Pharmacist credentialed from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy required.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes by accurately selecting, dosing, and dispensing complex medication orders in specialized areas like oncology and cardiology.
  • Provide expert clinical consultation across pharmacies and to clinical leadership, serving as a subject matter resource to enhance patient care.
  • Review and resolve potential drug-related problems in medication orders to protect patient health and maintain high standards of quality care.
  • Guide and oversee technical pharmacy personnel, ensuring the efficient and precise preparation and delivery of medications and supplies.
  • Educate medical staff and patients on proper medication usage, effects, and alternatives to support informed clinical decisions and patient adherence.
