About The Position

Medtronic is a global leader in healthcare technology dedicated to alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending life. This role is part of the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) portfolio, which provides therapies for pacing, defibrillation, and remote monitoring. The Clinical Specialist will provide technical, educational, operational, and sales support to achieve CRM sales and customer service objectives within the Akron/Canton, Ohio territory. This position requires the candidate to reside within the assigned area, travel regularly to customer accounts, and be available for urgent customer needs, including occasional after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage. A valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and a driving record meeting company standards are necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma PLUS a minimum 6 years of work experience in healthcare, field sales, or work experience utilizing complex mathematics, mechanical concepts, science or computing.
  • OR Associate’s Degree PLUS a minimum 4 years of work experience in healthcare, field sales, or work experience utilizing complex mathematics, mechanical concepts, science or computing.
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree PLUS a minimum 2 years of work experience in healthcare, field sales, or work experience utilizing complex mathematics, mechanical concepts, science or computing.
  • Valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and a driving record that meets company standards.
  • Ability to meet vendor credentialing requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate/participate in numerous tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment in an organized manner while meeting deadlines.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
  • Possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment (for roles below Principal level).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, life sciences, or biomedical engineering
  • 2+ years in Cath lab, EP Lab, hospital/clinic with cardiology knowledge
  • Thorough working knowledge of medical terminology and the medical device industry

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for CRM devices and therapies, including system checks/interrogations, implant support, troubleshooting, and applying training knowledge.
  • Coordinate operational support by ensuring accurate patient documentation, managing inventory and equipment, maintaining programmer software, and assisting with daily coverage logistics.
  • Educate physicians, hospital staff, office personnel, and field team members on CRM products, therapies, and solutions.
  • Support the onboarding and development of new Clinical Specialists and Sales Representatives.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership and field partners to understand customer needs, market dynamics, and the value of Medtronic CRM products and solutions.
  • Identify customer opportunities, support purchase order activities, monitor competitive trends, and provide feedback to achieve sales objectives.
  • Maintain technical expertise by staying current on new CRM products, therapies, solutions, and patient management offerings.
  • Travel extensively within the assigned territory to support customer clinics, hospitals, and business meetings (approximately 80% of the time).
  • Perform physical job requirements, including frequent two-handed lifting of up to 40 lbs, sitting, standing, and walking for 8+ hours per day, and regularly bending, stooping, squatting, and maintaining balance.
  • Work effectively in clinical environments with exposure to eye protection, infectious disease, and radiation, while wearing 7-9 lbs. of lead for extended periods, utilizing computers and mobile devices, and maintaining necessary vision capabilities.
