About The Position

The State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC), is hiring a Clinical Social Worker for its Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team in New Haven, Connecticut. The position is based at 34 Park Street and is full-time, 40 hours per week, on a first shift schedule from Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The ACT Team serves the highest-acuity clients in CMHC’s outpatient department and uses a fidelity-based model in which the Clinical Social Worker works as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role independently provides clinical social work services, manages an assigned client caseload, conducts clinical assessments, and completes required documentation. The worker must obtain and maintain the training needed to issue Emergency Certificates in the community so clients at risk of harming themselves or others, or experiencing grave disability, can be evaluated in an emergency department. CMHC is an urban community mental health center founded in 1966 as a partnership between DMHAS and the Yale Department of Psychiatry. It provides recovery-oriented services to people with serious mental illness and/or addiction, and is also a research and training site. A comprehensive medical examination, including drug screening, is required after a conditional offer. State employees must comply with Connecticut’s Drug Free Workplace policy.
