About The Position

Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is seeking a Clinical Skills and Simulation Coordinator to manage the effective operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Practical Nursing (PN) and Personal Support Worker (PSW) clinical skills laboratory and simulation environments. This role ensures that laboratory, simulation, equipment, technology, and supply resources are available, functional, current, and aligned with curriculum requirements to support high-quality student learning experiences. The Coordinator will collaborate with faculty, academic partners, Information Services, and external vendors to coordinate laboratory and simulation activities, manage specialized equipment and inventory, support student skill development, and maintain simulation technologies. The position contributes to the delivery of safe, consistent, and quality educational experiences that support student success, all while upholding SNP's governance values and fostering a culturally supportive teaching, learning, and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).

Requirements

  • Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program of one to two academic year(s) in Practical Nursing.
  • Must be in good standing with CNO as a Registered Practical Nurse (or other nursing designation – RN or NP).
  • Over 5 years and including 7 years experience as an RPN in either clinical or education contexts.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Prior experience working for an Indigenous organization is preferred.
  • Applicants from Six Nations and other Indigenous communities will be given preference to deliver programs and services in a First Nations community.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the day-to-day operation of the clinical skills laboratory to ensure a safe, organized, and fully functional learning environment.
  • Maintains inventory of disposable and non-disposable supplies, equipment, and teaching resources.
  • Orders, receives, tracks, stores, and replenishes inventory; monitors equipment condition and lifecycle requirements; coordinates repairs, servicing, and replacement of laboratory equipment and manikins.
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety standards and infection prevention practices.
  • Plans, prepares, sets up, operates, and supports simulation activities for the PN and PSW programs.
  • Maintains simulation software, audiovisual systems, manikins, and associated technologies; troubleshoots technical issues; collaborates with IT services and vendors to resolve equipment and software concerns.
  • Tests and updates simulation scenarios and equipment to ensure operational readiness and alignment with curriculum requirements.
  • Coordinates and prepares laboratories for scheduled classes and learning activities.
  • Oversees open practice lab sessions and supports students completing missed or make-up laboratory requirements.
  • Provides guidance within a non-instructional framework by directing students to appropriate learning resources, checklists, protocols, or course materials when skill performance concerns are identified.
  • Monitors student adherence to laboratory safety, equipment use, and established procedures.
  • Collaborates with faculty, program coordinators, and academic partners to ensure laboratory and simulation resources support course outcomes and assessment requirements.
  • Liaises with Mohawk College regarding curriculum updates, simulation activities, skills requirements, equipment standards, and supply lists.
  • Participates in planning discussions related to laboratory improvements, new technologies, and evolving clinical practice standards.
  • Researches and evaluates new equipment, simulation technologies, and instructional resources.
  • Obtain quotations, product information, and technical specifications from vendors.
  • Coordinates equipment maintenance, warranty claims, repairs, and service agreements.
  • Maintains relationships with suppliers and external service providers to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement and support.
  • Maintains records related to inventory, equipment maintenance, simulation activities, safety inspections, and resource utilization.
  • Develops and updates standard operating procedures, equipment manuals, and laboratory documentation.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, student access, resource utilization, and simulation effectiveness.
